If this is a shitty concept, blame SF121. It was his idea.

We need a consolidated game thread. Mix the optimism of the Liverpool contingent with the restless Gunners, toss in the fatalism and humor of the Newcastle hostages, make sure Zomp is there so everyone has a target, let the Spurs guys hang out in the back grimly staring down mgoblue2 and allaboutthesox and let the PRBot post in blue. It'll be awesome.

The only reason we'll be restless is because we're waiting for the FA Cup final next weekend, which is taking forever to arrive. Fourth is locked up. Norwich has nothing to play for either. So yawn. It'll be hair of the dog with friends at the pub tomorrow. Nothing more, really. I guess we'll be watching the City and Liverpool games with some interest. That'll be the thing for most teams' fans/clubs.

I may not even watch the Everton match. I'm not worried about the title or anything it's just that I figure it'll be a boring game. Whatever, go Arsenal in the cup final.

Sam Allardyce once said that if his name was Alardicci he'd be given more credit as a manager. He was managing Bolton at the time. I am hoping against reason for some of that Alardicci magic today. But will settle for some headed knock downs from the big Geordie long hair for his scouse mate to tap in and show us the chicken dance - two times, more if needs be.

So which Lannister do you have me for, sf121, the Kingslayer or the Imp?

Who is Mike Ashley in this scenario?

King Robert.  Fat drunken slob seems to fit.  Now we just need a boar.

King Robert spent way more on wine and/or whores than Ashley ever spent on players and/or caring.

King Robert left the realm deep in debt, chasing a (tourney) title.

I think we're gonna need a new analogy.

Who needs analogies when this banner, to fly in the away end, cuts to the quick?

EDIT:  I spoilered the banner as it does contain NSFW language.

Fantastic. Fully expect a completely uninspired performance. If Liverpool wins by less than 3 I'll be amazed.

I would imagine the visitors' changing room is rather cramped today, with all the Newcastle players already packed for their beach vacations. Last flights out of John Lennon Liverpool airport are around 9:45 local time, so no time wasting today from the lads.

So with either a ManU win and Tottehnam loss or an Arsenal win next week, then ManU is still in the Europa league next year?

No.

The only way ManU gets into Europe next year is if Tottenham lose, and ManU wins.

The FA Cup final is irrelevant because Arsenal have clinched the Champions League spot, and Hull City cinched the Europa spot for the FA Cup.

Can Hull survive both league and Europa or are they in danger of the drop next year?

Thanks, I didn't realize that they spot could go to the FA runner up.

Paulinho slotted one in too, so it's 1-0 Spurs.

I'm a little torn on this.

Holy shit, Liverpool. In the words of Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive:

I DVR those. With everything all at once today that didn't make much sense.

I think it feels early because I didn't crawl into bed until almost 2 last night. That was a mistake :(

32' in, and Newcastle is playing as if the airport is fogged in and they have nothing better to do than bust ass on defense.

Man, they should steal the NFL's idea and do a "Penalty Area Channel" or something.  Anyone have a suggestion for a few must-see games?  Currently watching Manchester City-West Ham, but I don't have a preferred team in EPL.

The only "must-see" games are on NBC and NBCSN. The City game and the Liverpool game.

Outside of that game and the Liverpool game, the only games that mean anything are Tottenham-Villa and MU-SH for a Europa spot.

Are you leaning either way for a PL team--still searching?

Own goal--Spurs up 2-0.
