deep inside Guido territory

Sweeney said Miller suffered a setback and will not be ready for the final. The GM also said he’d be surprised if Wagner plays. Chara is fine and will be ready.

I guess judging by Sweeney's comment that Wagner did not necessarily break his wrist. He didn't exactly sound confident in him being available anytime soon, but did not rule him out either.

Due to the 11-day layoff, Sweeney said the team will reach out to the Patriots and ask how they went two weeks and remained sharp for the Super Bowl.

I spoke with my Bruins rep and they have the following pricing available (significantly less than ticketmaster and their fees). TM starts at $550 before fees for the same seats. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll order them.

Game 1 - $400/ticket
Game 2 - $450/ticket
Game 3 - $550/ticket
Game 4 - $700/ticket

fake edit: Note this is directly through the Bs box office.

real edit: You can email me tonysalamone19@gmail.com
I just emailed you Tony, thank you.

Okay, so with the Bruins series officially over and the Sharks and Blues 2-2, I want to know who SoSH thinks we should be rooting for over these next two or three games..

Please refrain from: “It would be good to see and beat Jumbo Joe in the Finals” or “St. Louis has a strong fanbase, I’d be happy to see them to advance”. I’m talking purely from the standpoint of best matchup for the Bruins so they can bring home the Cup.

I know a lot has been said about San Jose having horrendous goaltending, but they seek deeper at forward. I admittedly do not know a lot about St. Louis.

Who do you guys think gives us the best chance to win the Cup?

The god of injuries to defenseman.
Definitely that.

Initially I did not want any part of San Jose, but the more I think about it, they fear does not have much rational basis. SJ is fortunate to be here with controversial wins over Vegas and Colorado.

SJ and St. Louis had close regular seasons with 101 and 99 points respectively and differentials of +28 and +24.

I think for me it comes down, as it usually does in the NHL playoffs, to the goaltending and I think St. Louis has the greater potential to get hot, so I would rather root for San Jose to advance.

The Athletic (and Fluto Shinzawa) continues to kill it.

https://theathletic.com/984248/2019/05/20/the-brad-marchand-and-david-krejci-origin-stories-how-the-bruins-executed-two-franchise-shaking-deals/

Basically, the Bruins Front Office did an incredible job. Trading 4th and 5th rounders to the Islanders for the 3rd which turned into Marchand. The 2 Islander picks played a total of 1 game in the NHL. (After Marchand was picked, there was only 1 All-Star in the the draft, Leo Komarov, picked towards the end of the 6th round)

In 2004, they ID'd Krejci and Martins Karsums as two 2nd rounders they wanted, hoping one would pay off. They traded a 3rd, 4th and a 9th for San Jose's 2nd. They picked both players back-to-back. Only 2 All-Stars were selected past round 2. They then traded Karsums (with former 1st rounder Matt Lashoff) for Mark Recchi and TB 2nd rounder in 2010. That 2nd Rounder was then traded to Florida for Seidenberg. Without those 4/5 transactions, the Bruins don't win the Cup (IMO) in 20011 and aren't where they are today.

.
Little bit of inside info, I heard he broke his ulner bone and is getting cast off today. Has already been working out at Warrior, and seems to think he’ll be ready to play.

St. Louis always gives us all we can handle. Bruins regularly split the season series with them. They are a heavy team and present unique obstacles for Boston.

I believe we have won our last six games with San Jose.

San Jose's horseshoe has fallen out of their collective butt and has hit the ground with a resounding clatter. I suspect this ends tomorrow night.

I think the SCF goes 6 or 7. I want to see how quickly the Bs find their game before I can begin to feel confident - rest did no favors for sweepers.

Rest did no favor for sweepers but important to note that if STL wins tomorrow they'll have 5 days off as well so it's not like they're rolling straight into the next series.
I'm also not sure how upset I am about the rest thing being a negative to begin with. I kind of feel like CBJ was on fire games 1 and 2 and Tuukka held the line. And that that kind of repeated itself against CAR as well. Which is to say it wasn't so much the rest that they had that hurt them as much as it was Tuukka being a brick wall that did them in.

The issue with this is it extremely selective. The 2007 draft yielded a total of 23 games played and selecting Zach Hamill one pick ahead of Logan Couture. The 2008 through 2013 drafts yielded next to nothing outside of Seguin and Spooner in 2010, Hamilton in 2011, and Gryz in 2012. I'll give them credit for Spooner and Gryz but the other two were no brainers. It really wasn't until 2014 when they actually hit on a draft. The fact they have been able to be successful these last couple years with basically nothing from the draft is somewhat impressive in that they really sucked at a major aspect of the job but did well to mask it with trades and other such moves.

B’s are having an intrasquad scrimmage Thursday night at 7pm at the Garden. Tickets $20, $10 to park, net proceeds benefit the Bruins Foundation. They will play two 25 minute periods with officials.

Didn;t see this mentioned. Chara practiced yesterday..
https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/bruins/2019/05/20/zdeno-chara-participates-workout-bruins-practice/NAAme5biYhizVPApNr44SK/story.html

Zdeno Chara appears to have recovered from whatever ailed him. Chara, who missed the Bruins’ 4-0 closeout win over the Carolina Hurricanes last Thursday with an undisclosed injury, participated in a 45-minute practice session at Warrior Ice Arena Monday and seems on track to play in the Stanley Cup Final, which begins Monday at TD Garden.
“I feel good, nice to be out there,” Chara said. “Good practice, good pace. I’m taking it one day at a time, tomorrow off day, back at it Wednesday.”
Chara had been expected to pace himself, taking advantage of the week-and-a-half break between games. On Sunday, he went through pre-practice drills with Steven Kampfer, then sat out the full session, and was not expected to join the team until Wednesday. But Chara skipped the gradual part of his recovery.
“He practiced, no issues,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. “So, I guess tomorrow is a better day to evaluate if any soreness, stiffness. But we’re off, so tomorrow so he’ll get some rest and get ready to go Wednesday.” The Bruins and Chara treated the situation as if he had never been gone, and he did not hold back during five-on-five and one-on-one drills.

I was surprised they actually mentioned the Stanley Cup Final today on Golic and Wingo on ESPN. Wingo mentioned that he is rooting for St. Louis since he spent 6 years there. Nothing too in depth of analysis but still in the past, the Finals would not even get mentioned.
Agree with you that the layoff seems excessive..

I'm just glad St. Louis has to deal with a comparatively lengthy one, as well. Impossible to quantify but in metaphorical terms, the Blues get the 27 minute, drooling power-nap on the couch while the Bruins get a few hours of real REM sleep.

Woe betide them what would seek to stanch the flow of shitty analogies whose source is me. Bettman made me do it. Idle brains, devils handiwork and such.

So, I checked Ticketmaster this morning for games 3 and 4 in St Louis. Only resale seats available. $800/ea for the nosebleeds and $2000+/ea for really good seats. My wife and I talked about it, but just can't justify that cost.

Agreed, this experience was asinine.
And actually, the fill-the-time scrimmage scared the shit out of me. Obviously, there are people who didn't grow up with their dads telling them about the 46 Sox playing a stay-sharp exhibition and Williams getting hit on the wrist, followed by .200 against the Cardinals.

Please be well Brad!
