Keep in mind, we have no idea how long the West Final is going to go... but the earliest the Final will start in Saturday, May 25.
I saw this same question as a response to that tweet, but wouldn't the 25th be the latest start date for the finals?

The schedule is the 17th, 19th, 21st, 23rd for games 4-7 in the WCF. Would the NHL really wait 6 days from the end of that series if it ended in 5 games?

Copied from game thread last night - Jim Ed Rice did some homework on past series, and it looks like if teams have gone 7, they have given them more than just a day off in the past.

2016: Pittsburgh/TB goes 7, ends May 26, SCF begins May 30
2017: Pittsburgh/Ottawa goes 7 games, ends May 25, SCF begins May 29
2018: Caps/TB goes 7, ends May 23, SCF begins May 28

Man, I read that post too - thanks for the reminder.

The 25th still seems wrong if the WFC is over in 5 games.

Between here and everywhere.
Man, fuck you.

I already had great thread titles for either team we met in the finals, and you had to jump the fucking gun and make a thread before the Conference finals are even over.

Add a demerit for using the plural of FINAL when referring to the Stanley Cup championship round. Tsk tsk.

If you want to make a thread for when the Final is set, go right ahead. I saw a possible start time and wanted to start a new thread. I will change the title of this thread to a news and discussion thread for the time in between rounds.

Will the SCF be on Sat or Sunday? I assume NBC would like the 3PM Sunday slot for SCF not Sat night?

SCF games are not going to be played during the day time (they haven't the last 2 years). It will either be Saturday or Sunday night.

Just find that date hard to believe if the Sharks win the next two. Six days off would be a lot.
You have to go back to 2013 to find a year that didn't have at least one 7 game series in the conference finals. The Blackhawks won game 5 on June 8th and the SCF started on June 12th.

The 2012 ECF went 6 games with game 6 on May 25th, SCF started on May 30th.

2010, ECF (5 games) ended on May 24th with SCF starting on May 29th

It seems pretty consistently 4 or 5 days from the last conference finals game. I don't see anything on the TD Garden schedule for the end of May that would force them to shift the schedule. The 25th seems plausible of the WCF is over in 6 games. If it's 5 games, I'd expect the 23rd or 24th. If it's 7, either the 28th or 29th.

And on an entirely unrelated note, I am finding it very hard to focus on work today for some reason...

The last 3 finals have started on Memorial Day night so it seems like they like that slot as opposed to the Sunday night. Which would make sense since Monday is the Holiday so Sunday evening ratings and ad revenues are probably less than a normal Sunday night.

I love the panic about "You have to go back to 2010 (I think it was?) to find a team that swept the conference finals and won the cup!" thing. Well no shit. How many times did a team even sweep to give a chance of winning a cup to begin with?

I spoke with my Bruins rep and they have the following pricing available (significantly less than ticketmaster and their fees). TM starts at $550 before fees for the same seats. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll order them.

Game 1 - $400/ticket
Game 2 - $450/ticket
Game 3 - $550/ticket
Game 4 - $700/ticket

fake edit: Note this is directly through the Bs box office.

How do games 3 and 4 work - if they don't happen, do they credit your account? I am assuming you are a season ticket holder?

Would just go back on my card, yes. So I'd just send back your paypal or venmo or whatever you paid me with. Yes, STH here.

Ticketmaster resale site has tickets in my section going for $1000 for game 1-2. Nothing available for 3-4 but next section towards center ice is $3000. Silliness.

tonyandpals do you know if they had loge or if that was "best" they had available? I haven't talked to my rep to see what they're selling but I can if people are interested.

I don't believe they have loge, since there are none on TM (direct, not resale). But I can ask! I am guessing their inventory matches what you see on TM under the "Standard" category.

Just watching the ticketmaster inventory on G1 for the tickets at $549ea, they're almost gone. So my guess is they are almost gone at that price point. Maybe they'll have some others but I can't be sure.

Note to self, next time don't let the combination of drunken euphoria force you to buy tix immediately. Would have saved around $500 had I waited a day.

Yeah, I don’t get this too much rest thing. They’re pro athletes playing a game they probably started at age 5. If they can’t get up and stay sharp for the SCF, they don’t deserve to win and probably wouldn’t be here in the first place.

I see you've never met Tyler Seguin.

Touché. Though, that's pretty on point for Seguin.

Like, could you imagine meeting David Backes in a Ferarri dealership?

Sweeney, along with Carolina and St. Louis' GM's were nominated for the GM of the Year award.

5 really smart moves this offseason/season
Halak gets a 2 year deal
Nordstrom gets a 2 year deal
Wagner gets a 2 year deal
Coyle for Donato and a 5th
Johansson for a 2nd and 4th

The only knock against him this year has been the 5 years to John Moore. 3.5% of your cap(and falling) is not a really bad overpay though.

wow, no weekends for the Bruins STH'ers, sorry TAP and Nap and others, and there is a travel day at each change of venue.

If this goes 7, all that time between games 5 and 7 will feel like forever.

I can deal with that. My flight home lands at 7:45 on 6/1 so radio silence for the car ride back shouldn't be too hard.

Amalie’s tweet looks funky in the mobile browser, so here it is in text. Side note: how is it that three different networks (understanding that TVA is the lone French option) claim rights to Canadian coverage?

Game 1: Monday, May 27 at 8 p.m. (TD Garden, Boston, MA) – NBC, SN, CBC, TVA

Game 2: Wednesday, May 29 at 8 p.m. (TD Garden, Boston, MA) – NBCSN, SN, CBC, TVA

Game 3: Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m. (San Jose, CA or St. Louis, MO) – NBCSN, SN, CBC, TVA

Game 4: Monday, June 3 at 8 p.m. (San Jose, CA or St. Louis, MO) – NBC, SN, CBC, TVA

Game 5: Thursday, June 6 at 8 p.m. (TD Garden, Boston, MA) – NBC, SN, CBC, TVA

Game 6: Sunday, June 9 at 8 p.m. (San Jose, CA or St. Louis, MO) – NBC, SN, CBC, TVA

Game 7: Wednesday, June 12 at 8 p.m. (TD Garden, Boston, MA) – NBC, SN, CBC, TVA

I get the extra travel if it is San Jose, but seems excessive if it is St. Louis. Oh well, first world problems.
