We have a poll for what you want to happen. Now’s the time to guess on what WILL happen.

I voted before checking on any breaking news after 430 CT. If the Pats were going to cut him it would've happened already. The team was coached on how to handle the questions, BFB took some arrows for him at the presser. I think he's sticking around, for better or worse.

Some of these don't make sense.

There's no way he has a short suspension. If he's suspended it won't be short.

The Patriots would be out of their heads to cut him before the NFL does anything.

I voted nothing happens as it all just seems like if something were to happen it'd already have happened.

These are all possible resolutions. Obviously, some are more likely than others. And if you have a handle on how Roger will act, then I commend you. Because I have absolutely no idea.

I say nothing happens in 2019, barring any new information that comes to light. It's a civil litigation, and there's a non-zero chance it's an extortion attempt.

2020 is a different story, but he is unlikely to be the Patriots problem at that point.

I hope we can get some more threads going on this so that finding meaningful content continues to get harder. Good stuff.

He’ll go on the list (which is ridiculous), they’ll take 2-3 months to “investigate,” and he’ll then get a 6-game suspension, based on the emails. Kraft will be forced to cut ties having been labeled a rapist by the NFL. Never plays a snap for the Patriots.

Hope more comes out, such as other texts/videos to refute these claims, but if we’re going off what we have now, that’s my prediction.

Putting him on the exempt list for a civil suit would be criminal
Was that meant to be a play on words? Employers discipline or cut ties with employees all the time based on reported transgressions and other behavior that doesn't involve arrest. And this is a league that's been under fire for its perceived culture of misogyny, heading into a season-long centennial self-celebration. They're going to want to be seen as acting decisively, and will not want this hanging over everything. Acting quickly is in the league's best interest (not sure I agree with those who've said that if something was going to happen it would've happened by now; it's been just 36 hours since this became public).

Employers don't normally fire people due to being subject to a civil lawsuit.

In the vast, vast majority of cases employers probably don't have a clue when their employees are involved in civil suits of any type. NFL players are public figures which changes things quite a bit.

I don't think AB winds up on the Exempt List. Union would fight it too hard....pretty much opens a Pandora's box. If the Commissioner were to put him on, I think it would have happened by now. There are no good scenarios here....NFL will investigate, AB will play, it will all that anyone wants to talk about....maybe post investigation something happens....

The Commissioner cannot put him on the list until there has been an investigation. That's why it hasn't happened.

NFL’s Pravda, ESPN, is pushing out “AB should be on the exempt list” on all its shows.

With CBA negotiations on the horizon, I think the owners will actually view this as a great time to push the envelope on the exempt list. Try to give as much visibility as possible to present it as a bargaining chip to get something in return.

My $100 to your $50 to the jimmy fund, Ed? Call it deadline of thanksgiving, he's either on the list (or been on it) or he's not?

I agree that the NFL is pushing this exempt angle for their own interest, but ESPN and the other major sports media are operating on a far more superficial level and simply want this to blow up in BB's face.

You can keep the odds even, but happy to help a charity either way. We can call the deadline October 1st, though. They’ll have a decision much sooner than that, I’d guess maybe even today.

Mind you, I think anyone going on the list in this kind of situation is horseshit, but still strongly believe it happens.

Works for me! I'll only mind paying up because of what it means for the Pats' roster.

I’m thinking of starting a poll asking what everyone favorite AB thread is.

Would I have to include that poll thread itself in the poll, as it would also technically be a thread about AB?

Yeah, but why would God want a microwaved burrito in the first place?

I don't think that would be legal.

I think this opinion has been raised already, but this week has been a bit depressing after the initial excitement. We got a new toy, didn’t even get to see it work, and it is broken already.

I voted exempt and cut, but for the other owners I wonder if the cleverer strategy for damaging the Patriots would be to leave him on the team and let the media do all the work.

Yeah, I think it happens in the next week or two, or not at all. It hinges on the NFL’s interviews of the two principals — if the investigator believes the accuser and not AB (or if he declines to participate), he’s going on the exempt list. I don’t think we know enough about the particulars to handicap the likelihood of that, so I’m inclined to do the lawyer’s cop-out and say 50/50. Consequently, I didn’t vote in the poll.

My gut instinct after watching this week play out tells me these charges don't have legs, so I voted no discipline. But in fairness I think it's almost equally likely that I have a bad read and/or not enough info and he ends up on the exempt list next week.
