Clippers window is slamming shut. Paul turns 32 in May. Poor guy deserves better but nothing he can do. Come to Boston, Blake.
Are you blind? Have you not seen playoff Blake Griffin? The definition of empty stats

I'd prefer a sweep. I can't watch anymore than 4 games of that effort. That was straight garbage against a team with a middle school offense.
I still have the Clips in seven. I thought this series had the best odds to go seven - people are sleeping on how deep this Jazz team is and how well coached they are.

Dude, they play solid D but their offense is horrendous. They run the same, repeated hand off at the top of the key and they can barely scratch 100 most nights.

They played probably the worst defensive team in the playoffs but the rockets, dubs, spurs would wax them pretty easy.

I believe Utah actually allowed the fewest PPG in the NBA this season. Yeah they lost Gobert but they are still a good defensive team.

Saint Paul, MN
Obviously a shame to see Gobert go down, but man, I hate that cheap little move that big guys make on those screens. He clearly sticks his leg into the defender all while trying to make it look like he is just planting his foot to roll to the basket.

Utah doesn't score a lot of points primarily due to being last in the entire league in Pace but their offense isn't THAT bad at 12th in the league in OffRating (Pts per 100 possessions). Low scoring games doesn't necessarily mean anemic offense. It's the NBA.....all teams run the same sets and all defenses know what the offense is running. The key is executing switches to create advantageous matchups which Utah does very well........shit, they did just that on the final play of the game by not calling a TO to allow for defensive substitution/game plan (the mistake Nate McMillian made for the Pacers) in working a switch to create the Iso Joe/Jamal Crawford throwback 2002 matchup on the final play for the win. That one play was classic Snyder/Jazz.

They are but gobert was the linchpin. I hope it's minor. The talent coming through right now is so great and varied.
Obviously Rudy is a big part of that but for El Uno to say, even without Rudy, that they are the WORST defensive team in the playoffs is clearly not true.

I read it as him saying the Clippers are the worst?

No, I think he was referring to the Jazz and his main complaint was with the Clippers defense. Its also ok - his team lost a tough game and Utah's style is a bit tough to watch if you are fan of the Clippers, the C's, the Cavs or Golden State given the aforementioned pace.

Finally, as HRB mentions, Snyder deserves kudos for not calling a timeout. The great part of his coaching wasn't that though - it was that the personnel on the court knew exactly what to execute with the little time they had left. Making Crawford switch on to Johnson created exactly what they wanted, even if it hadn't worked.

I actually thought the Jazz were going to call timeout because Johnson slowly brought the ball over half court and went to the traditional timeout spot on the floor. I think the game plan was to bring it across and call a timeout; but if they could tell Crawford was going to be the defender they would let it ride, which is what they did.

I always think that in end of game scenarios the lack of timeout plays into the offenses hands. A disorganized defense is far more troublesome than a disorganized offense. All you need to do to is to get the ball into the hands of one player who can get his own shot and chances are they will get a good look.

When is the last time there were two 40 point scorers in the playoffs on the same team? Maybe Durant/Westbrook?

I love me The Claw but not this season. Draymond is number one in DWS. Leonard is number 20. Draymond number 16 in blocks. Leonard was 68th. Draymond number on in steals. Claw is eighth.
If I was picking one guy to stop the best player in the league for one possession I would choose Kawhi. Draymond though is like an amoeba, he has no really position he just morphs into whoever he is guarding. He isn't the best athlete but he has probably the best timing and anticipation of anyone in the league, and defensively that is more important. He's my DPOY, I think Gobert would be next but he's such a different style player it's hard to compare the two.

They're both elite defenders and Draymond is probably a little more versatile but I take peak Kawhi over any perimeter defender in the league. I think Draymond has earned the reward this year although tough to compare the two since their team roles are so different.

No. It's just people always say OKC has the worst supporting cast... who is the 3rd best player on the court? 4th?
I'll reluctantly go Oladipo and Adams so the point I think you are making is a valid one.

Those were my choices too. Thing is, no individual player has a team build around his skill sets and needs more than James Harden.

Houston looks good. I think a Houston/SA series would be entertaining although Pop would surely have them figured out pretty good.

Cavs are such a bitch team; can't wait for GS to smoke them in the finals.

Pacers really should have traded George. Would be interested to know what Bird was looking for.

Let's hope this is the beginning of a nice steady decline
How about an immediate steep decline beginning in October so the pick gets carried over to Unprotected in two years instead?

Did they really start Vince Carter AND Wayne Selden tonight? I know they would miss old friend Tony Allen, out with a calf, but this is really an awful team they are fielding. Fizdale should get some COY votes for getting his team this far.

I am not sure a healthy Tony Allen, who is 35 and showing significant signs of decline (3p% was abysmal this year and, more importantly, he showed decline across his defensive metrics) would do much for these Grizzlies against the Spurs. Fizdale came to a gunfight with a wrist-rocket strung with old surgical hose and held together with duct tape.

Kawhi Leonard:

37 points on 14 shots. I don't know how Pacers fans can watch him without puking. None of us know how his career unfolds outside of SA but the thought of a George/Leonard wing tandem would haunt me, especially since Danny Granger's injuries killed his career 1 year after that trade was made.

Good day for the KLs: Love and Leonard combined for 64 points on -- wait for it -- 21 field goal attempts.

31-31 from the stripe.
