Nice Friday Afternoon start with a shorthanded West Ham visiting a shorthanded Sheffield.

Spurs/Liverpool on Saturday

Biggest implications for the table are likely from Watford/Bournemouth both in the relegation zone, but headed opposite directions recently.

Outright disaster for West Ham, Fabianski has to come off 12 minutes in. As I posted in the other thread, when he plays WHU have been a top 5 side, without him bottom 3.

I saw that in the West Ham thread. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how a keeper can be that valuable.

He's exceptional at just about everything and his replacements are terrible. He can play with the ball at his feet, they can't, he's a top shot stopper, they are not, he organizes the defense, they do not. Also a bad keeper can really damage a team's confidence

And now 1-0 Sheffield as the backup keeper kicks it directly to a Blades player, creating a 2 on 0

I guess I really underestimated how many goals involved players being slightly offside and handballs that led to goals in previous years.

Good lord, West Ham misses a hatful of chances, then goes to essentially 10 men when Anderson was injured on a filthy tackle (only a yellow because this ref has been truly awful all night). And VAR takes a goal off on the terrible handball rule.

Edit- and for sure there is going to not be enough stoppage time

The Arsenal goal had a nice series of passes (Luiz to Ozil to Lacazette to Aubameyang for the finish). In the latter days of Emery, I was convinced that Lacazette and Aubameyang couldn’t play together, but Arteta has already proven that to be a fallacy and an Emery-problem.

Ozil is again leading Arsenal on distance covered: 5.5 km.

Also, via @orbinho:

Arsenal Premier League goals scored away from home this season
9 Aubameyang
1 Martinelli, Pepe, Torreira
0 The rest

Arsenal is so much better under Arteta already than Emery. I'm being overly optimistic, but I feel like the odds that Arsenal makes the CL are greater than 50%. Either via winning Europa or sneaking into the top 4.

Much better from Palace so far in the second half 1-1. Unless somebody's armpit was offside or something...

Nice to have PEA off for the rest of the game, but Palace always seem to play worse when they have the man advantage.

If it’s an Everton-Brighton game there must be a VAR screwing. Dunk puts his arm across Walcott in the box, no foul given.

Very tasty revenge for the nine goal shellacking as Southampton beat Leicestershire 2-1 .. made all the sweeter as LCFC played all nine goals on the video scoreboard before the game .. as the Southampton players were warming up. Jerks.

Legit shocked to see Danny Rose in the starting eleven. I thought he was dead.

Encouraged by Tanganga, but Spurs midfield is mostly non-existent. Only chance of getting ball in offensive end is if Son runs it there himself.

Firmino! Not the prettiest chance of the day, but well taken.

Edit: Henderson literally stuck his neck out there to keep the ball in the box. Glad he compensated for what has been a crappy half for him.

California. Duh.
That was coming. Nice turn and shot by Firmino for the opener.

That VAR review should not have taken that long, either.

I am shocked, shocked an Eriksen/Winks midfield pairing isn’t working against Liverpool.
