Spurs need points but that was actually a positive result all things considered.

I like how EPL telecasts hang in there for a while to see players and coaches greet each other on the field after a game. Wish NFL broadcasts did the same.

Son showed the negative part of his game today. He made some awfully selfish decisions to take shots from areas that would be hard-pressed to trouble Alisson.

The second half was the first time I truly saw Liverpool look gassed as a side. They’ve had to make up for a few injuries with sheer energy- Fabinho’s in particular. It’s starting to tell.

That said, with their current lead they’re in a position to strategically get some of these guys a spell on the sideline.

Pearson looks likelier to keep Watford up every passing week. 10 points from 4 matches after 9 from their first 18. Deulofeu in particular looks like a different player entirely as he's tracking back, pressing, and lasting a full 90.

Bournemouth meanwhile look cooked. Too many injuries to too many key players and no viable goalkeeper

I never thought Bournemouth would fire Eddie Howe, but this is probably the time. They need to get defensively solid and start scraping points any which way.

Peter Schmeichel and Owen Hargreaves were doing the post match commentary and just ripping Howe for his stubbornness. Mind you, I don’t think Schmeichel has ever been a fan of playing out from the back. But, they have a point. When you don’t have the horses it seems pointless to keep hammering that square peg into the round hole.

They also mentioned the financial hit the Cherries will take with relegation. They have a lot of money tied up in bad contracts. What’s more they will be losing their best player (Frazier) this summer and Ake may even leave this window.

The City dynasty may be in decline but nobody puts a ton of goals past a drop-zone side like Pep.

Despite being a Madrid derby and a Final, this game is being played with all the intensity of an ICC game in the middle of the summer.

What's dumb is this is the Spanish equivalent of the Community Shield. Until this year it was just the league and cup champs, played in August as a kickoff to the new season. Now they've expanded it to 4 teams and moved it to January in exchange for that sweet, sweet oil money.

After 120 scoreless minutes, the inevitable Real win in the shootout happened.

Atletico had a chance with a couple minutes left in ET but Real took a red card to stop a clean breakaway and the free kick ended up getting nothing.
