I'm going home
Bello on the bump. He's gotta go at least 6.

Catch the ball and hit the ball. It's fun when that happens.

So what if this team is in shambles?

Fucking win anyway.

Series 7: SOX vs PIRATES (with apologies to A Modern Major-General)

It seems we are a mundane team that just screams mediocrity.
We intend to spend and contend but can’t transcend hypocrisy.
Nothing tracks. We see the cracks in a lineup that lacks quality.
There’re lots of prayers ‘cause healthy players are a rare commodity.
We’ve found balls on the ground confound. We’re bound to field them awkwardly.
Want free runs? Take more than one. We have tons of generosity.

7 and 3 then 3 and 7. Good heavens that was quite a flip.
I could deride our lack of pride, but I’ll provide a lighter quip.
10 and 10 and on the road again: I’ll pen this insider tip:
Catch the ball. And hit. That’s all. Don’t quit. Stand tall. Get a tighter grip.
The season’s long. Things will go wrong. Focus. Be strong and fight the yip.
“Average” sucks. Ravage the Bucs. Be savage and let’s right the ship.

AHOY MATEYS

We're taking my daughter, who is obsessed with Jurassic Park/World, to some live 'dinosaur' event today. Should be fun way to kill time until the Sox play.

Definitely need to fight the yip! Correct those and this team is 13-7?

I’m happy it isn’t happening for this series, but the Pirates need to call up Paul Skenes. It would be good for baseball, for Pirates fans, for all fans.

This is wonderful. I did have to remove the word "in" the line 3 to get it to scan, but no matter.
This game starts at 6:40. Wonderful! Almost all of the upcoming games are at reasonable times, early-bird specials for the grannies.
Geaux, Sox! Do what @LynnRice75 told you.

Egads! You're right. I left an extra "in" in. I shall edit it.
When I publish pennant-winning poems, your help will get credited.

Taking the places of Hamilton and Reyes in tonight's lineup will be DalbeK and Yoshida. I'm sensing a breakout game from Bobby. And by breakout, I mean he reaches base once tonight.

I've been to a fair amount of baseball parks. PNC is one of the most beautiful and easily accessible. I went to a few games there the first year it opened.

I like your sense of optimism. Bobby D breaks out tonight. Make it so.

Defense ought to be acceptable at worst.

They're facing a nobody for PIT as starter, but... good luck.

Wow, I need to get out to a game there. That looks fantastic.
You walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge from the city limits to the Stadium and it's quite an inspiring walk up. You can see the Steelers field next to it as well. Kind of like Seattle and their ballparks.

With that lineup, looks like the Boston Woo Sox might struggle again this series. O'Neill could be back by Tuesday, hopefully Devers soon too, because yikes.
The Pirates started 9-2, including taking 2 of 3 from Baltimore, but have cooled a little, losing 3 to the Mets.
We\re really going to need to find a way to win at least one of the first 2 with Bello and Crawford starting, because on Sunday it's looking like Uwasawa might be our starter, and he got pummeled in spring training-- 14 runs allowed and 8 walks in 9 2/3 IP. He's allowed 7 more in 10 IP for the Woo Sox.
His transition from being a Nippon Ham Fighter to MLB hasn't gone well so far.

Let's find a way to win this one and make everything look a little better.

Any time you can stick Refsnyder in the three hole against a RHP, you gotta do it.
add to that, that there’s two guys who they have less confidence in than Bobby Dalbec

Edit: and yes i know R/L/R/L but still tho. But still tho.

Is Reyes hurt? He sucks too, but it’s multiple layers of suck ahead of Dalbec.

I mean, Dalbec is second in succession to 3B in the organization. That’s a joke.

Dave McCarty of 2004 Sox Passes Away
"Dave McCarty, a first baseman who appeared in 89 games for the 2004 Red Sox, has passed away. He was 54. McCarty attended the 2004 reunion at Fenway earlier this month. He played parts of 11 seasons in the majors with seven teams."

He was just in town for the 2004 celebration/reunion. Sad to hear this.

No NESN feed available tonight so I’ll be watching the P-Burg feed with the Weei radio feed. Imagine my elation when I heard it was Joe and Lou Merloni tonight and not Joe and Will Fleming. I can tolerate Will with other announcers, but for some odd reason he turns into an insufferable kiss ass to Joe with a weird, almost Eddie Haskell like vibe. I can’t tell if he is being respectful or just doesn’t know how to interact with Joe because Joe has such a strong legacy in the booth. It just doesn’t work well when it hits my ears and I’m grateful for when Joe has someone else with him.

PNC and Oracle Park in San Francisco are gorgeous with the incredible views.
PNC is a beautiful and spacious stadium. I went the year it opened and I was blown away by the lack of cramped leg issues and CUP HOLDERS!
Along with that is one of the nicest skyline views in the Majors.
