The Rangers are in a far more desperate need of a starter than the Red Sox. Heck, you could argue that with Kershaw out, the Dodgers are in a similar spot. And both those organizations can offer strong packages.

I don't think it matters if you're in desperate need for a starter if Sale is truly available. He's the guy to give up the farm for if you are so inclined to do so.

Perhaps; but some teams might be more enticed to back up said truck than others

Here
Nip, Ed can't read a thread to see multiple posts already written about a topic
They're working on the board and it's been glitchy all day. The last post showing for me from the last page on the app was SoxHop's about Sale being scratched. I had to refresh 4-5 times for the other posts to show up. I thought maybe Sale had a reputation for being a clubhouse issue for some reason, given the other post on this page. I don't follow the White Sox enough to know.

I wonder what the Twins would want for Kintzler?

Wasn't very sharp last night but still managed to get through the heart of the Red Sox order and has decent stuff. Controllable through 2017, not a bad name to add to the 7/8th inning mix.

“@ChuckGarfien: I’m hearing the Chris Sale incident was over something ”stupid.“ Might have been a joke about getting traded and he flipped out.

“@JulieDiCaro: I’ve also been told there was some cutting of uniforms involved. https://t.co/FKw3fqLeuu

“@StokkeTommy: Not a joke: Source says Sale blowup was because he didn’t want to wear throwbacks, so he cut the jerseys up so no one could wear them.

“@JulieDiCaro: Another source says Sale’s anger had to do with collar on the throwback jerseys.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

“@JulieDiCaro: The Sale thing started over something silly with either his uniform or the team’s uniforms, according to a couple of sources.”

“@JulieDiCaro: Also told Sale left in his car, but conflicting stories about whether he was sent home or left of his own accord.”

Source: "Sale asked that they not wear (throwbacks) on his day because they are uncomfortable. Things escalated when they wouldn't relent."

OK, no disruptor; however, not a very "normal" reaction from a psychological point of view. Maybe Greinkeske in a market with big pressure.

Some trade news

Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale might not be the guy for the Red Sox, regardless of his involvement in a bizarre incident Saturday. But rival evaluators and executives believe the Red Sox definitely aren’t done dealing.

“I don’t think they are,” one executive with a team that’s talked to the Red Sox said Saturday. “Even if (president of baseball operations) Dave Dombrowski pulled back Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi, he still has enough prospects to add quality pitching.”

Said another source: “Dave will go for at least one-two more (pieces).”

The Red Sox are still looking at starting pitching even after the Drew Pomeranz trade, kicking the tires on the biggest names, like Sale and Chris Archer of the Rays, who would both command a ton.

The inquiry into Archer was described as due diligence.

Another tough night for David Price last night against the Twins at least can’t lessen the team’s desire to go out and get another rotation piece.

“He’ll keep Moncada,” another rival executive speculated of Dombrowski. “The rest may be goners.

If Evan Drellich is to be believed. DD still has plenty of trades left up his sleeve

Besides overcoming a serious medical condition, where's the evidence Greinke couldn't pitch anywhere?

And why is any personality blip or manifestation of someone's bad day automatically tied into some nebulous mental illness or anxiety disorder. It's like saying someone broke their leg skiing, they must have cancer.

For the same reason trading a prized prospect is automatically the worst move in the history of the game. No one bothers to think anymore. It's just extreme auto-reaction.

Just throwing this out there. When all the LaRoche stuff happened in spring and Sale was speaking up and the prospects of him being available at that time arose, what were you willing to deal then? Now, as the deadline is approaching and he is potentially on the market, what are you willing to deal now? But remember, back in spring, nobody expected Price not to be able to last six full at home against the Twins..
