I have to say, New Orleans holding the pick is probably the most interesting scenario that doesn’t make my blood boil.

Zion to Pels is good. Theyll want to rebuild and get young assets around Zion. Celtics have that in spades.

Disaster averted.

Awesome, so the Celtics get the amazing #10 pick next year. Meanwhile every team we hate got immensely better.

Shoot me.
most rookies suck, even the ones that end up being very good, way too early to assume grizz will be better

This is still good news. Zion doesn’t automatically make them contenders and I doubt this all of the sudden changes AD’s mind just because the organization lucked into a guy.

Mem pick retains value, LAL and Knicks have 3 and 4 in a weak draft. I had already locked in SAC at 14 in my mind. Not a bad day.

On the bright side, Ja Morant means a Conley trade and some short term scuffling by the Grizz.

That was definitely the most exciting lottery I've seen in a long time. Love the format and execution.

If only Danny had negotiated that Grizzlies pick as only “#1 protected”

Yep and going from the Ohio Valley Conference to the NBA is a tremendous leap. Ja is really good and the ideal Conley replacement but he still turns the ball over a ton and could take a year or two to translate.

My asshole neighbor (I live in Santa Barbara which is Lakers country) is yelling about the lakers adding the #4 pick in a trade is now going to swing Davis to the Lakers. I really need to get more land and not have neighbors living in SoCal

Zion is the biggest loser from this lottery. Forcing a guy like him to spend most of his 20s ala CP3/AD in that shitshow of a franchise should be against the Geneva Convention.

Eh Zion is about to sign some huge ass shoe deal and then an NBA contract. Markets don’t matter as much as they used too.

I dunno. #4 pick doesn’t get you much in this draft
It gets you seven years of either Barrett or Calvert to go along with everything else the Lakers have.

A bigger issue is that the Knicks can bundle Knox, DSJ, #3, and future picks which might be the best package of all. Williamson/Knox/Barrett is a pretty good alignment at the 2/3/4.

I don't see Griffin trading AD before the deadline after this development. He will want to see if the AD/Zion pairing works, and if AD can be persuaded to stay with the Pelicans.

Ainge, if he survived that lottery broadcast, is probably scheming how to get Zion away from New Orleans seven years from now.
