we traded down like 400 times to end up with Walsh and a million 2nd rounders

are 2nd rounders worth something in the NBA all of a sudden? why on earth would you do this?
Signing 2nd rounders got easier with the new CBA. There's a new salary cap exception for 2nd round picks, where previously teams would need to use cap space or part of the MLE if they wanted to offer more than 2 years @ the rookie minimum.

Not a huge difference, but going forward 2nd rounders will have a little more value to cap strapped teams that need to fill out their roster.

So basically we traded

Smart for Porzingis and a 1st next year
Gallinari/Muscala/35 for 38 (Walsh) and four future seconds.
Actually it was Smart for Ty Jones, #38, a Warriors #1 and four future #2s. And then Jones, Gallo, Muscala, and #35 for ‘Zinigis. Thank god for Ja Morant making Memphis desperate.

I think part of it is, Jones is forcing his way out, and they REALLY want to move on from Brooks, but sneakily don't have anybody else who can guard the 2 at a high level

Yeah, I meant to mention the messy divorce with DB being part of their desperation. That was a contender with a lot of problems.
