There is always some type of excuse giving for the guy. He is an extremely popular player I get it. He is probably the best player in the world right now not to have won a major. But that’s never a storyline that’s said out loud. It seems like the tv crew is consistently making excuses for him and unable to say anything slightly negative. That annoys me. I’d rather they just call it like it is.... likeable guy, great player, struggles to close in majors. There is nothing wrong with saying that
It's not his fault if other people are making excuses for him. He's not like Day who feels the need to tell the world when he takes a sip of too hot coffee and burns his tongue. Fowler has won enough that he's getting the "best to not win a major" pressure but I think he comes off tremendously well when interviewed. He does dress like a jackass, however, and the mustache doesn't help.

You're literally making this up in your head.

In fairness, he’s toned down the apparel. And if the mustache is good enough for Stokke, who’s to give him shit on it?

On Fowler, to expound, I've never once heard anyone make an excuse for him being injured or blowing it on a Saturday or a Sunday in a major. Yeah, he's had his collapses, but so has everyone. Fowler is a great golfer who hasn't won a major.

Count me as someone who's a fan of Fowler with no real gripes about him. Hope he wins a major to get the monkey off his back because I think we'll see a few more in the years after.

I'm sorry if I missed the discussion but why does Adam Scott still get to use the belly putter? I thought they were outlawed in PGA events. I saw him at the British and assumed that because it wasn't a PGA event he coud use it but he's got it now today so what gives?

He doesn’t anchor it. As long as it’s not anchored to his chest, you can use it.

But until he does, he’s stuck with a worse resume than Martin Kaymer.

(And I’m a Rickie stan)
I like Rick just fine and am no particular fan of Kaymer, but he is much more than one major win away from matching Kaymer's resume, let alone surpassing it.

Bernard Langer does the same thing. He reinvented the long putter thing by moving it an inch off his chest.

I know it’s only because I’ve been watching for coming on nine hours straight, but if I see another Justin Thomas Citi commercial I’m going to start hating him.

??

I don’t think I’ve noticed a golfer’s clothes since Payne Stewart died.
