This.  Pete Shepard is delusional if he thinks Entercom was going to have him sit down with the boss of his boss to discuss on air content.   It's comical to even think that Shepard expected this to happen.  IMO he was never any good, and he's a rank amateur for pulling a stunt like this.  Kudos to him if he doesn't care, but if he thinks he's going to be working at another reputable media stop anytime soon, then he's even more delusional than I think.

I didn't realize that 1510 was even a sports outlet, but has Pete proven me wrong, or is the jury out on whether 1510 is a "reputable media stop"?

Anyone catch the debut today? According to Bruce Allen, Pete came out swinging on his first show.

1510 am, same limited signal that the Zone failed on a decade ago.

Wasn't it also where Cliff and Claff were 3 decades or so ago

I remember calling in to the Old Morgan E. White trivia shows that were on at like 2am on that station in he very early 80s   (man I am old, but at least I was only like 14 then)

I don't know. I listened to the first five minutes and it sounded like the ramblings of an insane person or someone with a very high opinion of himself. After awhile I shut it off, did it get better?

I like Pete Sheppard. I liked the passion that he brings to the shows he is on, it's clear that he genuinely loves sports. But man, he doesn't understand shit about the business world. Like at all.

Yet D&C claim to be the Most Listened to in New England. Plus they claim "it's not even close". I can't imagine adding in NESN and the rest of NE would make up the large number of listeners they'd need.

They've always done this by adding in the ratings on whatever station carries them in RI (I could be wrong, but I believe they have their own station there, 98.5 does not). It's an obvious bit of chicanery given that Entercom has never paid bonuses based on their added RI ratings, just their Boston ones.

In any case, EEI is a sinking oil tanker. Dennis should be the first one to taste oil overboard.

Link of Pete BURYING EEI on his first show on 1510.  He even whips out "gutless turds".  Pretty damn entertaining.

No "E".  Just Morgan White Junior.  And he's on WBZ on Sunday night overnights.  And I think the station he was on back then was 1600, it wasn't 1510, which also was WITS for awhile and had the Red Sox games.

I admire Pete for his guts.  Few guys in his position would speak their minds and wage a crusade against their former employer.

But as long as WEEI holds the rights to the Red Sox and Celtics, they’ll be a factor in this market.  Let’s remember, they’re finishing 5th or 6th in the ratings book.  They’re not finishing last.   I’d certainly say they’re in a much more stable position than whatever AM station Pete is on now.

Though I appreciate Pete for saying what’s on his mind, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an axe to grind.  He sounds like a bitter former employee who got passed over
for a promotion, and is upset his friend (Ordway) got fired.  I understand why he feels that way, but let’s consider the source.

Does anyone really think they made the wrong decision choosing Salk over Pete for afternoon drive?  Pete seems to be a genuine sports fan.  I am too, and as is everyone else on SOSH.  Being a sports fan should be the bare minimum for a sports radio host (I know, “insert John Dennis joke here”).

I guess my point is, Pete represents so much of what turned a lot of people off from WEEI: The pom-pom waving, shouting down callers, and
inflated sense of self worth.  What was his upside at WEEI?  Update guy on the morning show?  But then again, I even think Minihane is better in the awkward third man role on D&C than Pete would’ve been.

I loved the rant as much as everyone else, but it came from a fill-in host.  A fill-in host with longevity, but a fill-in host nonetheless.  I’m not sure how much of an effect this will have over at EEI.

I agree.  IMO, that "rant" was not funny, clever, insightful, poignant or even remotely entertaining.  I too shut it off after about 3:30, as it was the same drivel that Pete has peddled his entire career.  To me, the guy has never offered anything interesting when I've listened to him, and his preposterous indignation about the heads of WEEI not having the "guts" to sit down with him is embarrassing.

It's good that his rant was posted online, because anyone seeking to listen to Pete on the radio is likely to hear nothing but....

You are correct I think it was 1600.  I do think Cliff and Claff (or maybe just one of them) were 1510.    I once participated filming a pilot for a trivia game show he was pitching in summer of  83 maybe.   Morgan was the guy who got me a bleacher seat for Yaz last game.

In terms of Shepard,  I guess it would be a good thing for this NBC sports to work out, and more competition in the town; although that basically gives us 4 sports stations now.

What a bitter loser.  Who is this exec he's droning on about?
GM Jeff Brown according to this. Unfortunately Pete doesn't have the self-awareness to realize that the reason he didn't have a full time gig there wasn't because Brown was a big meany. That being said, when I used to listen to the Big Show before I gave up on EEI I enjoyed the show more when Ordway was on vacation and Pete filled in as host.

The tv thing, over in Brighton? I was at one of those. The guy who did Ren and Stimpy was one of the celebs, IIRC

Let me guess; he's launching a website using the Grantland/MMQB model.  (which would be a brilliant train wreck)

Sheppard said he has had a mutual parting of the ways with 1510, the station he joined not long after abruptly quitting his WEEI weekend program while on the air in April.

He said he has a better opportunity coming along that he plans to announce later in the week.

Zook's status is uncertain, as is whether WUFC 1510 will continue to air local programming in the afternoon time slot.

General manager Anthony Pepe did not respond to a request for comment.

Why wouldn't this meathead go the podcast route?  The guy seems like he's trying to climb back up the ladder and get a gig at a major station as if it was 1995.  Pete the Meat has a seemingly strong fan base from his EEI days, yet he has zero idea how to leverage that.

Stopped taking Pete seriously after his last rant and "on air" stomp off at EEI. I liked him but his career had regressed and he is quickly becoming a has been like Upton Bell from another generation ,resigned to small low watt AM stations in suburban cities with no audience.

Radio is a dying institution and AM is on life support. The future is podcasting and Internet/satellite broadcasting.

Agree with most that although I think he is entertaining , his business decisions are mind boggling. Good luck Pete. I think you'll need it.

An hour-and-a-half show? How is that better for him, aside from giving him much more free time?

Weird.

Yeah, I've lived in and around Lowell for 15 years and didn't know 980 existed.

Seems like a bad career move.

If it was a 90 minute show at 2-3:30 or something I could almost see that, but during lunch during the week on a station no one can get or has ever heard of?

He's got to be getting minimum wage at most.

Hilarious.  I think Ryan Johnston actually does a political show on that station.  I doubt he gets paid much if he still has to do weekends and fill-in duty on TSH.

Here's their web site. It appears they have a live stream.

Pete will be leading into a show called "Midday Cafe with Jack Baldwin".

What, no on-air openings at WBKQ in Van Buren, Maine?

Sure, they broadcast from the building where Cappy's Copper Kettle is... And as soon as you go by the Washington Savings and New Great Taste across the street the signal starts to cut out...

The Pete Sheppard Show will be back this Monday at my new home 980 WCAP..MON-FRI 11AM-12:30PM...So happy to be joining the team over there!!

Yeah, so it sounds like this hasn't happened yet.  Yesterday, the show apparently didn't air, and I just clicked on the TuneIn App for 980 for laughs to see if he was on, and something called "The Coffee Break" is on instead.

It also looks like he took this original tweet down as well as his facebook post.  He hasn't posted anything since Sunday.  Hmm.

Its official now, Pete joining WCAP starting 9/22, hosting a football postgame show and a show from 11AM - 12PM Monday through Wednesday

Wow, quite an upgrade! From 3 hours at drive time, 5 days a week, to 1.5 hours mid-day, 5 days a week, to 1 hour, 3 days a week plus some weekend time. Pete's star just keeps getting higher.

Pete has to be the most well known Boston media member not tied to a NESN or national contract that doesn't get a call from CSN to work one of their shows.  When he was on The Big Show, he used to appear on Sports Tonight occasionally.  After he was first canned from The Big Show, I don't recall seeing Pete on CSN whatsoever.  Makes me wonder if he somehow burnt that bridge, too.
