Listening to Simmons go over bets with Schrags is just bad content. I like Peter S, he's great on Good Morning Football. But talking about the teasers Simmons has decided are guaranteed to win is just boring. It would be so much better if there was even a little self awareness about it.

Zoe on this podcast was bad and I usually love her pop ins. Just talking about how the words "flop" and "clout" are some kind of slang. Bill's like, "Flop, yeah, I know what that means, it's a word."
This is an honest question, no sarcasm….. Does Simmons ever have any self awareness?

I don’t have a teen daughter, so I may not be a great judge, but Zoe is really impressive. Not that I’d listen to a podcast from her (not the demo), but she comes off as having a great head on her shoulders, funny and intelligent. Bill seems to have a very good relationship w both his kids.

Basically just when he jokes that his fingers are broken.
Even this he stole from Kornheiser, though I think many in this forum believe Simmons takes himself more seriously than he does. With the exception of the occasional dip into race relations, public health, etc., it's an entertainment podcast.

Catching up on some older podcasts and I can’t believe I missed drunk House. I was dying when he aggressively shit all over the Celtics for 30 seconds after Bill made an off hand remark about the Wizards struggling. Him and Wos are a great duo.

That was an awesome pod. Not the most insightful ever, but several things that made me laugh out loud. Wos building a team of foreigners and American Caucasians made me laugh, as well as Wos suggesting white people should claim Blake Griffin followed by a quick no comment from Bill. The Madden segment off the top was great too.

On the other hand, I skip all gambling segments now. I feel like Scrags deserves better than helping bill fill out his card every week.

The no comment from Simmons was perfect. The entire podcast was great, although 10 rounds of bad contracts was a little long. Probably could have been 6-8 each. Still, Drunk House and Wos are a great duo.

This was the first time I'd ever heard her. You're right - she's really impressive.

I don't have a teen daughter, but I teach teenagers (10th-12th grade).

I have to say, I'm enjoying part of the Sal podcast making fun of Collinsworth a little too much. Sal's impression gets me every time.

I don’t know much about Seerat Sohi, but having just listed to the opening of the latest pod, her Lakers take made her seem like a random fan pulled from the stands. Brutally bad.

As stated earlier (and a few times in this thread) I really enjoy this podcast...

Off-topic --- do we have a thread with suggestions / recommendations for sports-related podcasts?
Ryen Rusillo. PMT. If you are into Fantasy Football, the Fantasy Footballers podcast is exceptional and it's very personable and funny, it's not just fantasy information.

I'll echo the Rusillo pod. He reminds me of the one friend a lot of us have that's a little bro-ey, a little arrogant, but self deprecating enough to balance it out. His opens are usually very well structured, and not only are his interviews very solid - he has terrific variety (in late December he had Sara Walsh from the NFL network and Nathaniel Philbrick on the same pod). His musings about UVM every now and then are also part of the personal appeal.

Rusillo's podcasts are must listens. He gets great guests, he can talk the dots off a golf ball, and Life Advice is just random and spectacular.

Simmons, these days, has a lot of content that is just boring or played out.

Agree completely. I listen to Simmons if the guest and/or subjects are relevant to me. Not the case with Rusillo - will listen to them all no matter what. Let's remember this in 5-7 years when we are complaining about Rusillo!

Well, at one time, you've got it, and then you lose it, and it's gone forever. All walks of life: George Best, for example. Had it, lost it. Or David Bowie, or Lou Reed...

The Ringer is my first choice for sports-pods between Simmons, Russillo, and most of the NBA pods. The football ones are more hit or miss, but Ben Solak and some of their crew are great (e.g. Nora and Kevin's humor/style isn't my favorite).

Fantasy Footballers is awesome. It’s a must listen.

For basketball, I like The Mismatch and The Lowe Post.

It is my favorite podcast. And not just because they give great advice, it's entertaining and hilarious. The Spitballer podcast is a great comedy podcast with the guys who do the Fantasy Footballers, if you want more of Jason, Mike, and Andy.

I like Seerat but she does fulfill a lot of millenial/Gen Z stereotypes, particularly her speech pattern.

The 3 of them have amazing chemistry. When if comes to fantasy, they generally all have enough of a different opinion where each hosts input matters. Even though they frequently disagree, it never gets hostile or feels like they dislike each other.

My only critique at all is i think the Jay Grizz thing is dumb but that’s an incredibly small complaint

Since Simmons is the exec producer of the Music Box documentary series on HBO, I guess this fits here...

I watched the doc about DMX yesterday, and it was riveting. Not sure if I should spoiler this since its been out for a couple months now, but...

The final scene of X singing The Way We Were to his family was one of the most surprising and touching things I've ever seen on film.

Ive never heard of her and i thought it was a gag guest. Worst of all, she pulled the Peter Schrager "I'm going to talk in circles and make definitive statement on anything".

Just awful. I'm not bill's biggest fan but his pod has to be in the top 3 or so sports pod in terms of popularity. He's giving you a showcase, show up.

Echo the comments re Rusillo. I listen to the opening and oftentimes skip to the life advice segment if I'm pressed for time.

Simmons on the Juice rewatchables with Van and Woz.

Simmons couldn't sit this one out and slide in a Shea or something? Getting Bill's thoughts on the hood in the early 90s is inspiring. This is parody stuff.

I didn't really have this takeaway to be honest. I thought he did a pretty good job letting Van & Woz lead that part of the convo, and Bill did more of the movie-centric stuff. I had more of an issue with the whole "who can we put Cindy Herron in a relationship with to make her more famous" convo. Not to mention mistaking William Sadler as Boggs in Shawshank...

Tomorrow's pod could either be epic or a two-old-men-crying-in-their-beer disaster. I can't wait.

Bill won’t be too upset.

Sal will be.

This is important because you need one of them to be pretty level for it not to be the latter.
Sal is going to be miserable and I’m here for it. Bill will be fine. A million recent Super Bowls will have that effect. :)

Schraeger is McVay's flunkey to an insufferable extent. I can't stop rolling my eyes anytime he talks about the Rams. "I'm telling you, that team doesn't fear Tom Brady", yeah as opposed to the reigning Super Bowl champs at home just trembling at the thought of facing the Rams.

Edit: took out a term that would be perceived as offensive.

There are a couple people on The Ringer, Mina Kimes being another one, who REALLY love McVay and it gets really annoying. They make it seem like they are watching Paul Brown reinvent football in modern times.

Kimes isn't on the Ringer.

And Million Dollar Picks is certainly the worst segment going on in Podcasts right now.(more because of Simmons than Pete S) Thankfully, it is very easy to skip past. Simmons' podcast isn't great anymore. He stopped writing, so he stopped learning and he stopped paying attention. And now his takes are just nonsense. He doesn't know anything.

Everyone gets old.

Bill's "Has Josh Allen passed Mahomes as the best QB for the next 10 years" take was awful, a classic case of Simmons overreacting to whatever happened most recently. Yes Bill, you'd definitely rather have the guy with one great playoff game rather than the guy with an MVP, a Super Bowl, and the best statistical start to a career since Dan Marino who's still only 26.

Is it just me, or did Simmons go through the entire Miracle podcast mispronouncing the name of the movie? He was smushing the middle of the word together.
