Pretty sure it is just based on coverage and return units. Place kicking not included, nor are blocked kicks (too random to be considered skill - debatable whether this is true). Are kickers included in this or do they get their own statistic?

Place kicking is included in ST DVOA.Pretty sure it is just based on coverage and return units. Place kicking not included, nor are blocked kicks (too random to be considered skill - debatable whether this is true).
Interesting. Maybe Nugent has helped the grade slightly going 15 for 17.Place kicking is included in ST DVOA.
Thanks. Justin Tucker must be responsible for a substantial portion of that ranking.Place kicking is included in ST DVOA.

And the Ravens kept a 4th rounder. So this was essentially a trade.
And they both get to spy on each other.Exactly, it looks like both teams win in some fashion. Pats upgraded Richards to Bethel, and the Ravens traded Bethel for Richards and a 4th. Everyone seems content with what they ended with.
Last time I checked the top-of-the-market non-specialist ST-only guys were making $2.5-$3 MM, so $2 MM is a pretty nice deal. Slater is at $2.9 MM (OTC has him a FA after this year, so not sure where you are getting your 2020 number), Ebner $2.8, King $1.6 / $1.7. The highest-paid non-specialist ST-only player appears to be old friend Barkevious Mingo, making $3.4 MM this year to play one snap on D and a bunch of STs.Looks like Bethel's deal is two years -- minimum this year (so, like $930,000 pro rated) and $1.5m with $500k in roster incentives next year.
As we know from Miguel, at the time they signed him, they only had $10k to work with so maybe the second year was necessary to get him to take league vet minimum for the rest of 2019. $2 million seems a bit high for a special teamer and with Slater's 2020 deal that's $4.5 million for two special teams players (assume they play 16 games each). It's a $500k raise over what he was due to make for the Ravens, but you almost sort of have to just treat it as deferred non-guaranteed cap spending. They gave him a little bump next year for going a bit lower this year.
