The Miami fans here might know better but to me his signing in Miami always had that “guy who flourished in a certain system that a new team expected too much from” feeling to it
I'm not sure this is it.
He played as expected, but his salary was always too high for his on field value. Part of his value was his locker room presence. Showing Flores' inexperienced defense how they did it in New England. That value made his first year worth it. But with the ascension of Van Ginkle - and his knowledge being passed to the D throughout the first season - his value was no longer aligned with his cost.
I'm happy to have him back. He and Judon are similar players (Judon, of course, being more skilled). Set the edge, protect against the run, can shed blocks or take on blockers as needed, can pin their ears back, can cover well enough to not embarrass themselves.
They arent offense breakers, but they're really good at their job. The edges of this defense became very hard to take advantage of.
