And there's zero chance that they'll activate two kickers in the same game.
Teams have done this, having a kickoff / long FG specialist in addition to their normal K. Bailey has been a little dinged up this year so they might want a different guy handling kickoffs, and we've seen Folk struggle with some of the really long FG attempts. I don't think it's real likely but I wouldn't rule it out.

Yes, although from what Folk has done this year, if we're talking "long FG specialist" we must be talking 55+ yard attempts. Folk has actually kicked off 7 times this year, all other kickoffs have been Bailey. That goes to your point about Bailey being banged up.

Bedard:
Adrian Phillips injured late: During the two-minute timeout, safety Adrian Phillipswent down to the turf and needed attention. He limped off — as many of his teammates went over to him to offer their support — but the doctors were performing an ACL test on the sideline. That would be a huge blow for this defense. Sean Davis had to play a lot of big snaps at safety down the stretch. He has barely played before tonight.

? Didn’t Davis play just the one snap? I don’t remember seeing him before the injury.
He played 3 snaps before the injury and then played on the 3rd and 4th and 14s at the end. When they went 6 dbs they played him over Williams, who barely played ( and was pulled and never saw the field again after being pulled after being burned on the should have been td to Diggs)

Their secondary depth is bad, 3rd corner is a big thing to improve in the offseason if Jones can't come back healthy.

Is there still nothing on Phillips?
I'm guessing given the fact that the team returned home in the middle of the night, and with the bye week coming up, we will not hear anything until tomorrow, maybe even Thursday, depending upon the imaging.

Depends on how much you want to read into a tweet he put out, all caps

THANK YOU GOD!!! (or lord I forget which)...

is it "thank you god i dodged a bullet and nothing bad happened"

or

"thank you god I'm grateful for everything and the plan you have for me and my torn acl"

I came here looking for news on Harris' hamstring, but I can't seem to find anything? Am I missing something? I'm just glad they get two weeks to rest Harris' legs.
Sense is that he’s ok, he was milling around the interview room postgame to no apparent consequence and guys generally aren’t seen if they suffer a major injury.

Unless one or both of them is placed on IR, you won't hear anything about either of them until they get back to practice next week.

I'd think no news on Phillips is good news. If he tore his ACL we should be finding out about it very soon.

Agreed. it was a late monday game so maybe that the cause for delay but they're usually pretty prompt about announcing true season enders
Bye week, so no injury reports is why we haven't heard anything. I doubt it's an ACL since they might want to make the roster move sooner in that case, but otherwise I wouldn't expect an update until next week.

They were doing ACL tests on the field. If he tore his ACL we should probably know before noon on Thursday, you'd generally hear those reports by Monday/Tuesday for a typical Sunday game. Trying not to get my hopes up, but so far the lack of news + the Phillips tweet late Monday night seems encouraging that they dodged a bullet.

Agreed i'm just hoping he can come back for roughly the playoffs which was very much in doubt in my mind when he came off the field Monday.

There are still some season ending scenarios in play. Sometimes there is swelling that delays a final diagnosis. And there is the possibility that a “moderate” injury like MCL strain takes longer to heal than hoped. But I agree that Phillips probably dodged the ACL bullet at least.

Fwiw, Trenni Kusnierek said on one of the NBC Sports Boston shows last night that the on-field ACL test performed on Phillips was negative, and that neither of the injuries to Phillips or Harris are considered serious. I had to do a double take and rewind it, as I hadn't seen the Phillips news anywhere, but she definitely said it. I'll see if I can find a clip of it.

Obligatory “paging DRS” post

I’m really curious to hear the thoughts of our in house docs if they have any strong opinions, if they’re up for it.

Opinions on what? There's nothing known yet about either injury for them to comment

I will say that just because they were performing the ACL test on the field doesn’t mean much - they are going to do that to any guy with any kind of knee injury. And a Lachman test done by an experienced examiner, especially acutely, is as diagnostic as an MRI. So I’d suspect he’s ok when it comes to that particular ligament.

If Omicron spreads here as it has in South Africa and it's looking like it will in Europe (and I don't see a reason why it wouldn't), the next month or two are going to be a COVID positive nightmare for the NFL (and NBA).

Disease severity is still unknown and boosters definitely are going to help, but with this degree of immune evasion there are going to be SO MANY positives. Especially places like the NFL that are doing a lot of testing and will find the asymptomatic cases.

Could be a huge issue heading into playoff time, mores than last year, at least a far as player availability.

Per 'EEI:
Phillips tweaked his knee on the second-to-last defensive play, but after being evaluated on the field and then sideline, trainers found no major damage. “Everything checked out pretty well,” Phillips said Tuesday. “At the time, I was like, ‘Oh, crap.’ I didn’t want to get hurt or anything like that, and you don’t know how severe the injury is or whatever it may be. But (I’m) just talking it day-by-day, working with the training staff and going from there.”
Plus he was at practice today so looks like we dodged a bullet on this one

Sixth round pick Joshuah Bledsoe was activated off of the NFI list (Calvin Munson waived). Fifth round pick Cameron McGrone was not, and his season is over. Both have been practicing for the past three weeks and today was poop or get off the pot time.

I have to imagine that Bledsoe will be inactive for Saturday's game, but if he isn't (and some of the inactives aren't due to illness/injury), it could be a good sign that they like what they see.

Got an update on my phone about Mac Jones being put on the injured list today.

Had to click the link, and he was limited with a "thumb" on his

left hand.

But then he returned to practice, and was a full participant after that. Fucking clickbait trying to kill me.

Damn, as fun as it was to beat the Bills throwing three times, after Mac/Judon/JCJ I'm not sure there's a player they can less afford to lose right now than Bourne, and that's only minor hyperbole. Was there any news on Harry and Agholor today?

Incredible that the current potential Henry/Meyers/Smith/Wilkerson scenario is probably still better than they fielded several games last year.

Bourne targets the last 6 games:

3
0
6
4
4
4

you may be vastly overstating his importance by saying he’s the 4th most important player on the team. He’s likely not even in the top 7 on offense (Mac, both RB, Meyers, Henry, Andrews, pick another OL)

A fair rebuttal, I disagree with Meyers but not the others. That said, I think it's a bigger loss than his target share would indicate. 5 TDs, same yardage as Meyers on 70% of the catches, 100 rushing yards on top of that. Outside of Henry in the redzone, the most dynamic receiver on the roster.

I'm overreacting based on my pessimism about Agholor and Harry, whom I can't find any postgame reports on. While those two are mediocre and useless, respectively, in terms of receiving output, being down all 3 would be a real problem. I think I'd rather go into the game with only one of Harris or Stevenson than without Bourne if that's the case.

Don’t the new guidelines say that vaccinated, asymptomatic players won’t get tested? If he’s asymptomatic and got tested, that would lead me to believe that he is not vaccinated.

If we end up losing key players for critical games because they were unvaccinated and had to go through that set of protocols, I put a lot of the weight on the BB. The league made its decision about the policy but teams have had differential success in incentivizing and convincing players to get vaccinated and it is clear that failure to do so could be a substantial competitive disadvantage. A smart organization figures out how to get to 100% vaccination in these circumstances.

What are some things that the successful teams have done to incentivize?

Hordes of people here can’t get loved ones to get the vaccine, but a coach should be expected to persuade players to get vaccinated?

Always nice to proactively blame someone for something that hasn't happened and we have zero evidence to think it will.

Trying to get people who are unvaccinated at this point to change their minds is like trying to get someone to change religions. That's a lot to put on Bill.
