Feels like the kind of price tag that is easy to cut if they draft the CB they are hoping to.

Seems like a guy who keeps getting added by teams as depth then winning the starting spot. He seems to be a Jalen Mills level of player, which won't replace JCJ, but replaces some of the JoeJuan/Bryant snaps at least.
Edit- looks like he's much better in zone than man from looking through writeups and grades on him, which is interesting when combined with the potential LB overhaul, could mean Bill is thinking about scheme changes.

I was thinking the same thing. Around midseason, the Pats shifted to a more zone oriented scheme because they were getting consistent pressure with their front 4. I wonder if we'll see more Cover 3 this year as a base.
Given Butler’s bad feelings after being benched in SB52, I’d say that’s not gonna happen even if - and this is even questionable - he has something left in the tank.
If the Pats make him the best offer he gets, he'll get over that real quick. But I doubt he has anything left in the tank.
