Patriots Pre/Post Game - 98.5

In what world is Stearns, DeOssie and Smerlas the better of two options?  The 98.5 pre and post game shows are completely unlistenable, and, shockingly, it has nothing to do with Gresh.  Tanguay has taken a page from the Felger/Mazz book and shits on the team at every opportunity.  Each opponent is a chump or a paper tiger, each loss is a sign of the apocalypse.  The only problem is that this that they're defacto employees of the team during the broadcast.  Legit criticism is fair, but Tanguay just rants like a madman without taking a second to bask in the win.
 
On the ride home from Foxboro Sunday, I was excited to listen to a breakdown of an incredible offensive performance.  I switched the channel 3 or 4 times out of frustration, finally turning it off for good by the time I hit 95.

I absolutely despise they take calls after the game. Most the callers are drunk from the parking lot and you can barely hear them. I would much rather hear actual analysis of the game from people who are watching rather than people are drunk at the stadium.

I really don't know why Tanguay has a job at this point. I wish they would pay someone like Mike Flynn actually talk football rather than him. They should have Bertrend actually host the show instead of him doing patriots pregame on the.com website

Go to the Patriots app after the game and listen to their postgame show.  Perillo and Andy Hart are pretty damn good breaking down the game.

Tanguay is the worst.  He's a special combination of stupid and reactionary that you don't see every day, and when you combine that with him yelling at his co-hosts constantly when he tries to make a point it becomes completely unlistenable.
 
So it is funny that you started this thread, because as I was driving around on Sunday after the game I found myself amazed that I lived in a world where Smerlas, DeOssie and Butch Fucking Stearns was not the worst option if I wanted to  listen to a Patriots post-game show.

[related rant]  I wonder if this is now company policy to lure listeners, because unfortunately, the game broadcast matches this description. (Really dont like spending a nice fall 1pm game window indoors).  Socci is good enough, but Zolak makes one reasonable point for every 10 times he sounds like a screaming drunk talk show caller. That he hasn't slipped into profanity amazes me. I had hopes for him when he did the radio sideline gig in Geno's last year or 2; but he makes the broadcast virtually unlistenable. My brother and I were trying to figure out who holds the title as the worst Boston sports media member.  Tanguay got my vote by a mile.  Borges, Shank, and others love to play the contrarian troll.  There are plenty of clueless buffoons like Greg Dickerson and Mike Adams.  But Tanguay has a special ability to both incredibly stupid and annoying.  He really shouldn't have a job in any market.

I'll echo what's been said here.  He's awful.  Gresh was calling him out on it Sunday a bit, and Gary just said Gresh has gotten soft since he got married (5 years ago, apparently).  Gresh was more confused than anything else.

Just to pile on a bit, is it just me or has it been worse this year than in any other year?  Tanguay has been absolutely brutal.  At least Felger sometimes has the ability of constructing his straw men in a way that you think he's spouting off what is legitimately his opinion.  Tanguay just screaming "THE BEARS ARE TERRIBLE, THE PATRIOTS HAVEN'T SHOWN US ANYTHING EXCEPT THAT THEY CAN BEAT AWFUL TEAMS.  THEY'RE GOING TO GET DESTROYED BY LEGITIMATE COMPETITION!" somehow makes me yearn for Steve Burton on the 5th Quarter.
