If they want Rivers to be able to return this season, he has to be on the initial 53.

Damn, just about to ask why you think there will be 3 trades in 48 hours. Ok

Let's see what the haul is. A little sad considering they traded UP for him. Traded overall 117 to move up 7 spots.

I hope there is room for both Gunner and Meyers. Who would return punts if not Jules or Gunner?

I'm far from sure, but I thought he had to *first* be among the 53 and *then* put on IR, so that one of your 53 has to be cut then added.
Yes. Some projections have them cutting Hoyer for a few days to get Rivers through to the 53.

Pennel isn't a tough cut anymore!

I think Hoyer goes via trade for almost nothing (about what the return was for Dawson).
I think Andrews will go IR right away with no hope for a return this season (you didn't list him in either place, so I assume you meant he'd be on IR also).
I think Frojo will go on IR, aka Redshirt.
So that's 3 out of the 53.
Replace with Rivers (to get him to regular season IR next week), Dorsett, Ferentz.

Yeah, you're not getting a "haul" for any of these guys
Because, at the very least, you are selling into what might be the worst possible market with regard to timing. The Dawson trade should be trotted out again next July and August, when we go through this again.

As Scheffer points out, and others have said: "This means 1,184 players will lose their jobs this weekend."

Acquiring three OL this week certainly means they didn't like the incumbents!

It feels like that only adds to the short-term logjam on the roster, since they almost surely will keep all three and at least one other 'backup' OL who knows the system iniitally, right?

I do wonder if special teams depth is a bigger consideration with all the moving pieces here---perhaps impacting Meyers and the edge guys.

Karras may be a backup OL now and the newly-acquired OL aren't rookies, so I can't see holding onto an extra backup when there's 8 linemen on the 53.

Well We have certainly learned that as the OL line goes (who in turn keeps Brady Upright) so goes our chances. So looks like they will keep claiming OL until all your OL belong us.
Dante isnt getting much sleep over the next 24 hours.

A thought that came to me mid-sentence as I was discussing the Dawson trade. Not only is it ensuring some sort of return, but it is also controlling destination. It makes sure that DD doesn't end up in KC, for instance.

I’m guessing if the Thomas release is procedural re an IR-DTR designate, it may be N’Keal Harry. Really hoping I’m wrong. But if they would rather give him an extra long time to heal...maybe?

Edit (to expand): Because who else on the 53 is dinged up and someone they don’t want to (or just wouldn’t) expose to waivers? LaCosse? Calhoun? I really don’t think so. Makes me think this is indeed procedural but more about the money guarantees, re-signing Thomas after week one.

I got 49 of 53 right but I made mine before Bodine was traded for. Had Hoyer/Froholdt/Crossen/DThomas on so missed on Dorsett/Bodine/Roberts/Melifonwu.

We need a nickname for Roberts---"The Survivor" or something like that.. The Cockroach? Dude always seems to survive.

Yes, I realize he could be the first out for a waiver claim tomorrow too. But damn, he just seems to persevere somehow.

He was pretty good last year. He's got limitations, but he's a guy who is only an injury away from playing a lot.
