Phil Perry was just on 98.5 talking about Jonnu Smith by necessity having to get snaps lined up in the backfield on Sunday.

Why does Jakob Johnson occasionally get a pass thrown his way but never get any carries? On the surface it seems like he could be an option to get some carries.

Browns are already tough to run on. I think that we'll be using the short pass as our run game and will try to spread out that Cleveland front 7.

Jonnu was apparently removed from media availability today.

I wouldn't write off Dre Day or Harris playing unless NE officially rules them out. Guys can get cleared from the concussion protocol pretty much at any time; Darnold was cleared last Saturday--just a day before the NE game. RBs missing practice also probably isn't as big of a deal, though I imagine they'd have a higher comfort level with a vet like Harris versus the rook.

The New England Patriots announced that they have activated T Trent Brown off injured reserve and placed LB Jamie Collins on injured reserve. In addition, the Patriots elevated DL Tashawn Bower and TE Matt LaCosse to the active roster from the practice squad.

Any ideas as to what they’ll do with the OL? Obviously it has been better lately, but Brown’s potential is quite high if he was to be inserted back in (RT or LT?) seems like a lot of flexibility…

I would imagine he’ll get a drive or two at LT at a minimum, maybe a drive at RT as well. I don’t think his conditioning is likely there for a full game but maybe a bit of a rotation. I think it could also be interesting to use him as a 6th OL in jumbo situations or kick either of the starting tackles out into that role if they want to minimize different looks for him. 20 snaps feels about right.

Josh seems to like to start with a Jonuu Smith jet sweep or screen before keeping him in to help the OL hold up.

It is a bad sign for Devin Asiasi that Matt LaCosse just got promoted.
The Jonnu and Henry signings were the real signs that Asisai and Keene were pretty big swings and misses. Funny how disappointment plays tricks on the memory -- I thought they were higher picks than 91st and 101st.

Jonnu has been banged up for several weeks now, seems like a good way to get him even more injured if they give him carries. That said they did it last week anyway, so who knows.

They might be dressing 3 TE simply because they ran out of healthy running backs.

Your point stands about Asiasi though.
That could explain dressing 3 but not dressing 4. So it would seem that either Jonnu is out or Asiasi is out, which would not speak well of Asiasi.

On the other hand…

Mike Reiss: TE Devin Asiasi loosens up, which could be a tip-off that he is making his season debut.

Here
I’d be surprised if Onwenu isn’t playing one of the Tackles by the end of the game.
