I can't think of a single "play" that the Pats made on D. Even like a tackle for a two yard loss, a nice pass break up, an almost pick. Someone broke up a pass on the line, so may that was the D's play of the game.
Guy batted that ball at the line. The next closest play was Allen completing a nice pass as Myles Bryant was a second late getting to him.

And credit to the refs. Honestly. Im generally a fairly negative ref person in the game threads. A few missed things but overall a pretty solid game from the crew. Call it a B. Totally different from game 1.

I just pointed out "nice dude" has had some fairly public shortcomings, man. If he's hanging out unvaccinated at hospitals doing make-a-wish shit as another poster pointed out, that'd be another.
To be fair, I believe he hasn’t said if he’s vaccinated or not, but he’s really walked the line and tries to talk around the issue of Beasley and the other unvaccinated teammates.

And yes, there’s been a lot of news stories about his donations/work at Oishei Children’s Hospital. They named a wing after his mom. Which is all great…it just seems odd when they show him hanging around a bunch of really sick kids if he’s not vaccinated.

It was impressive seeing him pick up the illegal contact flag AND whiff hitting the running back on the underneath route ALL IN THE SAME PLAY. Really remarkable actually.
If he had hit the running back, he might have gotten two penalties

The most depressing and useless activity in the world of sports journalism is attending or attempting to participate in a BB press conference.
when it’s that bad, I’m almost surprised the press doesn’t just ask no questions and make bill stand there awkwardly

Slater's press conference definitely left retirement on the table. McCourty sounded like a guy intending, at least right now, to keep playing.

More than left it on the table. He all but confirmed it.

EDIT: He'll be 37 in September -- have to think this was it for him.

If slate hangs em up, I hope they can find a way to keep him involved. As much as any player from the pats dynasty, that guy seems like a total pro and class act

He can be the new team chaplain aka what Jack Esterby used to be.
Yes, I'm sure that they'd find a spot of some kind for him. The only question is if/when he wants to take an off-field position. He might want to take at least a year or two entirely off.

Dawson Dowling Williams Cyrus Richards Wilson Butler Wheatley all did squat here.
Who are the other 14 2nd round picks in his 22 years ?
Let's stick with 2000-2019 since it's too soon to tell on Duggar

Just looking at DBs

Patrick Chung good
Eugene Wilson ok

1 good 1 ok 8 bust

Everyone else:

Klemm bust
Matt Light great
Branch good
Bethel Johnson bust
Marquise Hill bust
Chad Jackson bust
Ron Brace bust
Sebastian Vollmer good
Gronk great
Jermaine Cunningham bust
Spikes ok
Shane Vereen ok
Jamie Collins good
Dobson bust
Garopollo good

6 great/good, 2 ok, 7 bust

Basically ok for non-DBs, terrible for DBs.

Chung should be in there too, of course he was mostly a disappointment on his rookie deal before turning it around. Seems to me we’ve been quite good at safety drafting (which includes CB to S DMC) and secretly godawful at CB drafting—secretly because they’ve nonetheless put together good CB units thanks to some unreal UDFA successes and good work in FA. For the resources they’ve dumped into it, having Logan Ryan as the only guy since 2005 worthy of finishing his rookie contract seems bad.

For a #4 defense, this game and the previous one were an embarrassment. Not a single punt by the Bills.

I don’t hate the Bills like others in this thread. I hate the Chiefs more. Will root for the Bills against the Chiefs and then the Bengals to beat the Bills

Though they did get blown out, I wonder if that interception kind of turned the game around. Had they tied it, which I thought they would, how different the momentum might have been. Oh well! Reminded me of 2017 Vikes-Eagles title game when the Vikings scored easily on the opening drive I believe and were driving again until the Eagles intercepted and ran back a 59 yard TD. Totally changed the momentum even though the Eagles won big. Just saying , the momentum can swing. Vikings were looking dominant in that first quarter.

It’s an unfalsifiable theory, so no one can disprove it, but it is difficult to imagine that the INT derailed the Pats from scoring like six straight TDs or had any effect on the Bills offense/Pats defense. Perceived momentum wasn’t going to shore up the bad defensive execution or clear matchup deficiencies against the Bills offense.

This game was over in the first quarter. Tough to win when the defense doesn't show up and I was a bit surprised by how bad the Patriots were on that side of the ball. I stuck around until half time and bailed. Will be interesting to see how the team re-groups in the off season.

Yes I agree, they still would have lost. Allen would have still probably did what he did.

That game sucked, and I'm sick of seeing @greek_gawd_of_walks post in that sad little Brady Retires thread as "most recent". You're welcome.

Mods, feel free to delete this post. And that thread.
