Last worn in 2012 due to the one-shell helmet regulationsHave these ever really left? I can remember them wearing these when they put up 50 in the snow on Tennessee when Moss was still with the team.
They left after the NFL instituted a 1-helmet rule. Now that the rule has changed, they have brought them back.Have these ever really left? I can remember them wearing these when they put up 50 in the snow on Tennessee when Moss was still with the team.
They can't wear them at GB - remember the Jets-Bills color rush game a few years ago? Some color-blind people can't differentiate red/greenWonder what games they will be wearing them for. They could wear them for certain road games like GB or the Raiders since those teams wear dark enough unis at home that red would be considered a light color. Home game candidates could be Baltimore, Indy, Buffalo, and Cincinnati. My guess is they wear them 2-3 times.
I don't want to tell you this, but that was 13 years ago. We are old.Have these ever really left? I can remember them wearing these when they put up 50 in the snow on Tennessee when Moss was still with the team.
So have the Pittsburgh Steelers not worn that all black helmet with the stupid bumblebee uniforms? I feel like it has definitely been less than 13 years since I’ve seen those. And I’m almost certain, almost, that they used those different helmets as well. They left after the NFL instituted a 1-helmet rule. Now that the rule has changed, they have brought them back.
All the Steelers needed to do to wear all-black helmets was remove the decals from their current shells. It was easy for them to keep their throwback unis.So have the Pittsburgh Steelers not worn that all black helmet with the stupid bumblebee uniforms? I feel like it has definitely been less than 13 years since I’ve seen those. And I’m almost certain, almost, that they used those different helmets as well.
also, what kind of a stupid rule is that from the legal office that you could only have one helmet? This, at a time that they are merchandising everything and having alternative uniforms for Thursday night football. This really is the dumbest of all leagues.
They wear the same helmet when they wear the bumblebee uniform. So have the Pittsburgh Steelers not worn that all black helmet with the stupid bumblebee uniforms? Yes. That's what college and pro teams use.Is that tackle twill?
I'm a big fan of this and down the road I wouldn't mind a hybrid overhaul with Pat on silver helmets, the navy blue jerseys in the old style trimmed in red, white and a splash of silver and white pants as one set of unis and the white shirt and red pant combo seen here as the other.I'm irrationally excited about this. The current uniforms are so bad.
It was one shell and it was somehow related to concussion stuff if I recall correctly. It was the idea that they have the one helmet all year perfectly fitted and broken in for the player versus constantly changing to a new helmet for all the different looks. So have the Pittsburgh Steelers not worn that all black helmet with the stupid bumblebee uniforms? I feel like it has definitely been less than 13 years since I’ve seen those. And I’m almost certain, almost, that they used those different helmets as well.

I don’t know if it’s nostalgia, they just look really fucking cool. The incomprehensible nostalgia for uniforms that almost nothing good happened in continues............. How about bringing back the 2000-2019 uniforms? Ya know, the ones they won 6 Super Bowls wearing.
This. The team changing its uniform set after a 20 year dynasty never made sense from a branding stand point. You’ve got a uniform set synonymous with greatness. Now they look like the Titans. The incomprehensible nostalgia for uniforms that almost nothing good happened in continues............. How about bringing back the 2000-2019 uniforms? Ya know, the ones they won 6 Super Bowls wearing.
No I like the Jerseys with the stripes on the shoulders.I'd like to see the classic whites come back too.
Any game they don't have to wear the royal blue uniforms is a win in my book. What a big misstep. Wish they could go with Pat full time and make those the alternates.I'm irrationally excited about this. The current uniforms are so bad.
I’ve always thought the hybrid approach was the answer. Keep most of the color scheme from the Brady era but bring back Pat the patriotic, maybe with some color tweaks to match the blue unis. Maybe go to white helmets tooI'm a big fan of this and down the road I wouldn't mind a hybrid overhaul with Pat on silver helmets, the navy blue jerseys in the old style trimmed in red, white and a splash of silver and white pants as one set of unis and the white shirt and red pant combo seen here as the other.
I do prefer the stripes on the arms but I'll be fine with whatever white uni. They were so clean looking. I actually prefer the white slightly over red.No I like the Jerseys with the stripes on the shoulders.
Pretty sure they were wearing the reds in the 59-0 game. 2009 was it?Uh, do people really think the uniforms caused them to be bad? We used these in the aughts as well.
They look cool, therefore people are excited to see them back in the rotation.
That's really all there is to it. History is the past.
100%As an alternate, I love it. As for going back full time? We sucked in those Unis.
Before Elvis, no Lombardis. Since Elvis, lots of Lombardis. Opponents see Elvis and fall to their knees, weeping like toddlers. Elvis = DynastyThe incomprehensible nostalgia for uniforms that almost nothing good happened in continues............. How about bringing back the 2000-2019 uniforms? No. Those unis will always recall a battered Hugh Millen peeling himself off the frozen Sullivan Stadium "turf" after another sack. A nameless linebacker getting steamrolled by The Fridge. Ron Meyer jumping and screaming at no one in particular.I know that the Pats were ass in those old uniforms but I think after 6 superbowl wins they stench has been washed off of them.
One of my personal Pats hot takes is that the pre-Parcells teams on the whole weren’t consistently awful as it’s usually made out, but the low points were so bad that it clouded memories of more mediocre seasons. Those uniforms are gorgeous. Sure we had some bad seasons in them, but we also had some good ones as well (1976, ‘78, and ‘85 come to mind). And they have character. I don’t mind the current logo and unis, but they’re pretty soulless.
Yeah, I personally just don't get this take at all. One could just as easily say that the iconic "B" and/or pair of socks wore the stink of failure and the Yawkeys prior to 2004. The main difference being that the Red Sox didn't switch to a vastly inferior logo before running off a couple decades of relative success.Woof. Pat Patriot wears the stink of the Sullivans for eternity.
I don't think this opinion is all that unpopular. I think fans would love to see them once a year.My unpopular opinion is that the Parcells/Bledsoe era royal blue / soccer number look is very underrated and due for the throwback treatment.
Those were great, aside from the couple of years when they had the ginormous Elvis on the shoulders. My unpopular opinion is that the Parcells/Bledsoe era royal blue / soccer number look is very underrated and due for the throwback treatment.
Wasn't that... every year? Those were great, aside from the couple of years when they had the ginormous Elvis on the shoulders.
