Patriots 2015 Schedule looking easy

Playoff hype notwithstanding the 2015 Patriots schedule is looking to be quite favorable.

HOME: Buffalo, Miami, NY Jets, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Washington, AFC North*

AWAY:  Buffalo, Miami, NY Jets, Houston, Indianapolis, Dallas, NY Giants, Denver

*AFC North opponent will either be Cincy or Pitt depending on Week 17 result, the team that finishes first will play us.*

A lot can change in free agency, but 12-13 wins looks easy.  With the away games against Dallas and Denver, and the home against Philly being my only concerns.

The cradle of the game.
Hoe Lee crap.

When Demarco Murray comes back down to Earth, and with PMF's continued deterioration, you'd have to at least consider the opportunity to revisit... Precious.

I hate to temper everyone's enthusiasm, but I'd like to remind everyone that the division is WIDE OPEN until at least October. That's a long time.

Love seeing the AFC South on there, no matter what else.

Pretty sure it's not a coincidence that the AFC North got to play them this year and has 3 teams going for 10+ wins. (Although that Texans defense is no joke)

I would add the road game in Miami (where we've lost 2 in a row) and at least one of the games in NY.

That said, these Patriots seem to win 12+ games every year, and I would hope for more of the same.

Edit: But, as always, we'll just need to wait and see. Games that we think are going to be hard at the beginning of the season (vs. CHI this year, for instance) can look very different once they arrive.

Because Houston isn't that good, they have only 1 win against a good team this year (Baltimore)  and we dominated Indy on the road this year.  Denver & Dallas I mentioned  as being 2 games that would be tough.

The schedule is as hard as possible, when you consider they are required to play NYJ, Buff, Miami, Jax, Tenn, Indy, Houston for 10 of the 16 games.

It looks easy because we can't play ourselves. I'd much prefer the NYJ set of 10 OOD games.

It's fun to look at that list and replace the team names with the name of the starting quarterback. Not a lot of QBs to be scared of, can't even tell you how it's going to be yet for some of those spots. Then throw in the uncertainty of Manning and to a much lesser extent Romo and his bad back. Obviously things can change, but it's a fun opportunity at least today.

Somewhere
The road opponents look reasonably tough, but getting Tennessee, Jacksonville, and the Foreskins as three non-divisional opponents is a freaking gift.

I was at our last away game at the Giants. Was a pretty good game, and we won.

The rematch was disappointing though. You know, in 2011, at Foxboro.

I'm not sure it's impossible, but it always tends to be way harder to predict than it seemed. I'd also say that there's a pretty good chance Houston will be good next year if they can get even mildly competent play from the QB position.

This thread really makes me cringe.

I'm not ready to look forward.

That said, Pats are beating the fucking Giants next year.

I would like it a lot better if we played Houston and Indy at home and Jax/Tenn on the road.

One or two teams might be better than expected, but the NFCE/AFCS rotation should ensure a relatively easy schedule. On balance, that's a good thing, but it's worth noting that an easy sked makes it more likely that a team like Miami will catch a couple breaks and finish something like 12-4. Taking care of business within the division will be even more important than usual.

I hate ridiculously easy schedules. I am a subscriber to the "if they haven't been tested during the regular season, you won't know what they really are until the postseason" mindset, and I would much prefer they play a few more quality opponents like they did this year.

Plus, there's nothing worse than devoting a Sunday to Patriots/Jaguars.

I dunno, I love Pats blow outs, and that game carries that potential.

I'm just glad that the Pats are coming to 16W Stadium twice.  I hope both games are late in the season, the locals are again planning their vacations and Pats fans once again take over.

But yeah, the Pats have some business to take care of...next year can wait.

There are few things that I put less stock in than an "easy" NFL schedule.

Every team in AFCE should be better (that includes the Jets), Houston may well win 10-11 games with Clowney's return (& even an average QB production), Eagles & Bengals/Steelers are tough games anywhere, so are Dallas and Denver.

Plus, imagine if Pats don't retain Revis & Browner/Logan/Dennard/Arrington having to cover ODB -- yikes.

So if Harbaugh gets the jets job that will be dramatic enough not only for them to sweep the patriots head to head, but also cause another 1-2 losses for the patriots?

Houston is on its 3rd string quarterback. If the Texans get a decent qb in the draft or re-sign Mallet, they could win 10 games next year.  JJ Watt and the rest of the defense is pretty tough and Andre Johnson is formidable on offense. So I disagree with your assessment of Houston as an "easy victory."
Fake Edit: Why are we even discussing this, right now? This season isn't even over yet! I don't want to jinx anything..

Who predicted Dallas would be this year what they are today? Who saw the New Orleans s-show coming? The 49ers collapse?

Here
Pollard is still under contract with the Titans in 2015, but there's a good chance he gets cut. Which means he probably ends up a Jet.

You don't want to jinx... who the Patriots play in 2015?

Sorry, I just don't really see how talking about 2015 has anything to do with what happens in 2014.

They'll save Manning vs Brady for a midseason showdown. If the Pats win the Super Bowl, they'll open against the Steelers if they win the division or a playoff game; if Pittsburgh doesn't do either of those things, the Pats will open against Dallas.

Edit: On further reflection, I think Dallas is a more likely opponent in any event; after the league's domestic violence issues this season, I don't see them putting Roethlisberger on the marquee for the season opener (unless, of course, PIT wins the whole thing this season).

The defending champion always opens at home (except for a logistical issue like Baltimore in 2013 which the Patriots wouldn't have), so I don't think you'd want to play Dallas or Denver on opening night.

In addition to the above noted home/road issue, if Pittsburgh doesn't win the division, the Pats don't play them at all, regardless of whether the Steelers win a playoff game.

The most likely opening night opponent in that scenario would be... Philly?  Patsburgh seems like the most likely opener if Pitt wins the Superbowl, too.  If the Packers win, they get Seattle and Dallas at home, so one of those would likely be the opener.  If it's the Hawks... Detroit, Pittsburgh, or a division rival.  Dallas would probably get NE :)

Except that it's a NE home game. Pittsburgh won't open on the road if they win it all.

Well of course, but the only differences are the AFC West and AFC North teams, and those teams are set up based on our finish. So yeah, of course we'd rather get the Raiders and Browns versus Broncos and Steelers/Bengals.

I fully expect that on 9/10 the Pats will be home playing probably the Steelers. But there is one small wrinkle that could send them on the road for week 1. On 9/12 there is a scheduled concert for One Directional. Apparently they have a lot of setting up to do for their show.

A lot can change, we all know.  But seriously.  If Revis is back, how many of us are currently afraid of that Denver matchup?  Of course the Pats could lose it, seeing as though it is in Denver.  But that game suddenly looks a LOT more winnable than it did earlier this season.

Indy I'm not worried about AT ALL.  We have absolutely demolished them every single time since they've gotten Andrew Luck.  They still have no answer for the Patriots' offense.  Dallas will probably be pretty tough.  Houston might be.

Personally, and I know this is the irrational side of me kicking in, but I think the Giants game might be the hardest one on the schedule.

Dallas was a surprise but a bunch of folks saw down years for NO and SF.

We all agree, I think, that there will certainly be a couple teams on the Pats schedule who are a lot friskier than we expect right now and a couple others who will be a lot worse--injury luck alone ensures that--but that doesn't make looking at the schedule a complete waste.  No Ravens, no AFC North, no Seahawks, no NFC North or West are all good things.
