Let me share an orthodox Jewish outlook on the potential schedule, with an eastern time zone vantage point. Rosh Hashanah starts on Sunday night, September 13, so we would not want to have the late game on Sunday afternoon, Sunday night football, or Monday night football (two day YomTov). Sukkos starts on Sunday night, September 27, so we would not want to have the late game on Sunday afternoon, Sunday night football, or Monday night football once again. Shemini Atzeres/Simchas Torah starts on Sunday night, October 4, so again we would not want to have the late game on Sunday afternoon, Sunday night football, or Monday night football.
The Patriots fortunately begin NFL Week #1 on Thursday, September 10, so that's one game that won't be needing the DVR treatment. That leaves us concerned only with Weeks #3 and #4. Accordingly, I like Average Reds' calendar-speculation, as our Weeks 3-4 games would be with Eastern Time Zone opponents (Jacksonville and Miami), and that probably would enhance the chances for having those two Sunday games landing in the early slot on Sunday.
One can hope (pray?)... I envy dear co-religionists who can keep themselves in the dark as to outcomes and watch games on DVR as if the games were live. If I recall correctly, I began watching the DVR of our playoff game with the Ravens, then went to the live broadcast posthaste when we were down by two touchdowns per the DVR the first time on that Saturday night. By that point, the Patriots had tied the game for the first time. Odds favor that in my old age I've messed up something here, so thanks in advance for any corrections.
Just before hitting Submit, I've seen Dynomite's post - so Miami is out of the picture for the fourth week, and Houston is the suggestive alternative. Now that's one game I'd really like to see in real time (without needing to duck out for services somewhere in the second half), given the chances of our squaring off against either of the two Pats'-alumni quarterbacks.
