He's getting another 40 MILLION dollars for being an abject failure. Like, a full on train wreck failure.

Getting a long term coaching contract is truly one of the better things a person can do in life.

Broken clock, etc.

Ehh. 5-11 last year, and while 4-5 this year, A) they started off 3-0 are are now 1-5 in their last 6, B) their offense is a dumpster fire, and C) 2 of the wins were against the Jets and Houston. Injuries are a factor and they've been mostly competitive (-12 point differential on the season), but I'm not convinced that Rhule is going to make it to a 4th year in Carolina (I bet he makes it to year 3 and is canned next year).

If you can’t win with Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, Cam 2.0 and Baker, you can’t expect to keep your job. Jokes aside, he probably needed to take a QB last year but then maybe Mac doesn’t fall to the Pats. He’ll get another college job and another payday.

I am a total BB homer but the fact that BB was able to go 7-8 in 2020 with Cam while Ruhle went 0-5 last year with maybe a better roster than the 2020 Patriots is a huge indictment of both Cam and Rhule.

$40M remaining on his contract. I’m guessing he took the news ok. Sure he’ll have another P5 job in a few months.

It seemed like the big roll of the dice for this franchise under Rhule was to … trade for Sam Darnold. I get that Rhule may not have gotten the most out of (the rest of) his roster but it’s hard to see how this ownership group/FO had any intention of building a winning team with him as coach.

The record, the lack of offensive growth under any and all QBs, the lack of proper utilization of McAffrey this year, all of it does add up to this. It will be interesting to see which direction Tepper goes with — recycyled/established NFL guy? Another college “innovator”? The next Sean McVay amongst NFL assistants?

He also made a nice pick in Jaycee Horn who I read has only allowed 5/35 in like 119 coverage snaps this year. But nothing really matters in this league without a QB. Good news (for his successor) is that Stroud, Young, Levis should all be in play for Carolina in April.

I would have bet all the money in the world that Hackett would be the first coach fired. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As much of a spectacle as it would be and as bad as Hackett has been thus far, I don’t expect we’ll see a coach get fired before the end of their first season short of serious criminal activity any time soon. Totally believe he could be a 1 and done, though.

He'll make it through the season, because I think everyone in Denver is starting to have buyer's remorse on that Wilson signing.

It's a bit like going 11-5 with Matt Cassell, that's for sure.

Belichick being able to at least have a winning record against the league with one hand more or less tied behind his back is one of the few things that make it still worth watching for me. It's no 20-year reign of terror like with Brady, but the "he can take your'n and beat his'n" aspect of it is really delightful.

Baker is awful. Like really terrible awful.

But Ruhle has completely failed at getting his guys in good spots. They are completely wasting an elite talent in DJ Moore. They’re also running about 55 plays per game where most teams are running 60-65.

Urban Meyer got fired before the end of his first season and, while his sins were legion, I don't think any of them amounted to serious criminal activity.

Wow, I need to stop trusting my memory - I was certain that happened during the playoffs. Week 13!

My bad, then. I do think there being some level of scandal is the only way it happens again.
