Turning an off-season waiver claim (okay they non-tendered him then re-signed him too) into a viable prospect, whomever that may turn out to be, is some good GMing.

So long Ostrich. You weren't that bad, compared to the rest of the crappy pitchers we've had this year. I like you better than Brasier now at least.

The PTBNL designation is sometimes used to work around MLB’s ban on trading players in the same year they were drafted, but given this year’s shortened draft, it’s unlikely we’re getting a 2020 draftee. So I think the return is much more likely to be organizational filler than a “viable prospect.”

This year it is different, PTBNL refers to any player not on the 60 man roster because only guys on the 60 man are supposed to be traded. That being said, of course it is not a real prospect for a month of a shitty reliever.

It also is being used for guys not on the 60-man roster, as anyone not on that roster can't be traded right now.

You have to admit, 'The Sox acquired him from the Cubs in 2020 for Josh Osich' does sound like a perfect answer to a 'They got ___ ___ for who?' type of future trivia question.

Is it too much to think either of these PTBNLs would/could be on the Cubs and Rockies top 30 list?

If we're talking a lower-level player, I'd say it's possible, since they may not be close enough to the majors to warrant a spot on the team's 60-man 2020 roster.

If that does turn out to be the case, has to be considered a huge win.

Have you seen this pitching staff?
Ostrich's 5.74 ERA was better than Weber, Hart, Hembree, Springs, Brice, Walden, Mazza, Matt Hall, Josh Taylor, Robert Stock, Covey, and Godley.

One can legitimately ask if that group of pitchers would fare well as a unit in AAA. I'm not convinced they would.

Really missed a chance here to crash the server with a "Sox get Bryant from Cubs" headline

Struck out 24 in 21 innings out of the pen as a 2019 draftee. Huge Red Sox fan fwiw.

Nice looking curve:
