Final score makes it look close, but they were drastically outplayed and outworked all game. Really terrible effort

Not much left to say. Bruins were competitive in the 2nd and 3rd but that was way too late. Bruins defense was awful and Korpisalo worse than awful.

It’s like the weren’t ready for the forecheck. Like they haven’t played this team 20 times in the last two years. Where the fuck is the coaching?

Korpisalo is a big dude who manages to make himself small by dropping prematurely, and while his rebound control is subpar his rebound location is even worse — he seems like the last guy to locate the puck after the initial save, and while he hunts for it, he’s super slow to find his net and reset. Discouraging.

Really had to bite my tongue on Carlo tonight. Guy was an atrocity, had a few absolutely braindead rushes up to no man's land before cheaply losing the puck and putting the heat on Lohrei

Yeah, I feel like Lindholm was the best on D just because I didn’t remember as many WTF moments from him as McAvoy, Carlo, Lohrei, and Peeke.

Honestly, this is a competitive game, possibly an OT game with Swayman in net.

That being said, the lack of response against Sam Bennett is disturbing. Carlo, of course the closest to him and did nothing.

It looked like they weren’t ready to play and weren’t prepared to match them physically, and I put that on coaching.

Both are very concerning. If they go on an early slide, I could see Monty getting bounced early.

Game one and I’m hoping someone can upset Florida in the playoffs before the Bruins see them. They can’t beat this team in a 7 game series. They are on another level. (Assuming the boys make the playoffs)

If they were playing them in the playoffs RIGHT NOW, yeah they probably can’t beat them. They got six months to make the playoffs and figure it out.

Only game 1 of 82, but they have brought nothing to show they have figured out Florida’s forecheck which is concerning. They also have to learn that the Florida guys are never ever going to drop gloves unless it’s a mismatch in their favor, and the refs are always going to fuck the bruins on even ups/leaving bruins shorthanded in scrums.

I wanted Monty fired after game 7 last year, and I still want him gone. Too many things still point at coaching being an issue. Not prepared, no adjustments against the forecheck, no pushback vs Bennett.....hey at least we didn't have a too many men on the ice

PK Subban just said: The Panthers came out and said you guys are still soft, and we’re going to show you how soft you are.

That should literally be on the fucking bulletin board at the practice rink tomorrow morning.

Ever since he opened his post game conference I believe after game 6 two years ago talking about how great of a game it was(I'm sure ya'll remember, but a second closing game loss, 3rd to come), I questioned his mindset for the playoffs.

He's been suspect since “You’d have to ask Goalie Bob a little more about that.”

That whole series is a huge mark against him, but I haven't found much else to quibble with. They weren't prepared tonight, if it becomes anything more than a one game / one team blip, I'm concerned

Andy Brickley's potty mouth
I think we need a thread discussing Monty because I agree that he's been dog shit when it matters.

It's one game and they didn't have their best goalie in net so whatever, but this team doesn't have the talent to overcome bad coaching.

Looks to me like the Bruins got big and slow, they had no chance last night even with Swayman at his best imo, last night was not on bad goaltending imo.

There’s enough speed on this team. They weren’t ready to play. And Korpisalo let in 3 shit goals.

To me the bigger issue is how has this coaching staff not figured out how to slow down Florida’s forecheck even a little bit, when they’ve played them more than any other team over the last two years.

Because Monty is absolutely horrific at making adjustments. He basically does the same thing over and over and hopes it works. When it doesn't he's lost. It's why heavy fast forechecking teams have given the Bruins fits the last two years. He's clueless on how to beat them. It's frustrating.
