Jeez; the Cards are putting on a clinic.

And the Cubs are struggling with fundamentals. What do you got to say, genius Maddon?

Any of you guys feeling any schadenfreude with Lester?

If they had hired anyone else to manage the team I'd be rooting for Lester and the Cubs.

Really grateful for what both he and Theo did for the Red Sox for so long, totally gett wanting to take the most money possible and trying something new. Despite all that, I find myself rooting hard for the Cardinals.

I'm rooting for Lester over there, but I'm not gonna lie, schadenfreude ain't bad either.

Schilling was spot on from the get-go about Lester tonight: too much adrenaline, not enough feel of his pitches yet.

Not really. Between Theo, Lester, Ross, and the exciting rookies I really like this Cubs team despite the Maddon element.

My thoughts exactly. With so many Sox connections, it feels natural. But Maddon is a bit much for me.

Pedey played 31 games in 2006 so maybe Theo means he never started a player in his first game on opening day?
and etc.

The initial statement by Theo still seems like a bullshit argument to pretend keeping the kid down wasn't about futzing with his service time.

Yep, thanks for the two WS titles, you put the team on your back in the 2013 playoffs.

Good luck with the trying something new part; Cubs fans everywhere are depending on you to deliver their first WS title since 1908.

No pressure.

Sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence.

But you'd be better off staying on this side of the fence.

@ESPNStatsInfo: Cubs are 0 for their last 30(!) with runners in scoring position on Opening Day, including 0-for-9 tonight

St John's, NL
So lemme get this straight

Maddon let his bad hitting catcher hit, which admittedly did work, just to then PH hit OK hitting catcher and move his pitcher to the 7 spot so he'll come up even sooner in the lineup

I'm gonna LOVE watching this fucking phony get exposed by his own stupidity all year.

Gross.

Motte looks pretty good though, hitting his spots well.

I missed the beginning of that inning, why was Martinez in?  I thought he was the 5th starter?  Did they discuss this on the broadcast?
