Schill makes a good point that even if Lester was batting ninth here, you'd walk the 8th place hitter to get to him anyway.

Explain the Maddon thing to me. A pitcher batting 8th makes the double switch easier why?

I feel like I'm missing something easy...

What the ESPN guys said is it allows LaStella to be like a second leadoff guy.  But if he was so concerned about that, he could've just batted LaStella leadoff.

Yes. But at least you turn over the lineup quicker.

No, I heard that...but they said something about him batting 8th makes a double-switch easier.

Just because you can make that decision earlier in lineup and not maybe send a tiring pitcher back to mound if normal 8th place hitter makes an out?

It seems like you're over-complicating things for something that may or may not happen and in doing so you give bad hitters more ABs.

Oh, sorry, I missed that comment.

Did they drop the whole enter your cable provider details in on this?  I remember they had that the last time I tried to watch a game through them.
Nope - still checking. I'm not authorized....  :smith:

Just read that longtime Giants and A's broadcaster Lon Simmons passed away.  Sad to hear that.  He had retired and lived about 5 minutes from us.  He went back all the way to working with Russ Hodges. He was one of the best. Guys like ESPN Chris Berman ruin it.

Nah, I got asked for my provider. I never had to log-in with any personal info though. Just picked out Comcast from the list and I was good to go.

Pedey played 31 games in 2006 so maybe Theo means he never started a player in his first game on opening day?

What are they talking about?  Didn't Pedey start in the big leagues his rookie year on opening day?

His rookie year, yes. But he was up the year before for 31 games.

Shoulder surgery.... Dislocated it carrying his plate through the buffet table.
You gotta have a good distribution on your plate. He probably had bread on one side and meat and macaroni on the other. Rookie mistake from a veteran of the buffet game.

Yea, as previous posters mentioned, I think he meant MLB debut, throwing them into the fire on Opening Day.

Missed the context, but Pedroia had a handful of at bats in 2006.

Giant scoreboard... but don't you think the bleachers and other construction will grow around it to provide some balance?

I currently live in JAX and when it comes to big boards Everbank Field has some monsters. If they only used them to show every game but the Jags.
