Where are the vaccine expert rankings published and what are their criteria? Very interested to learn more about that process.
This is likely a serious answer to a sarcastic question, but there are academic article databases that rank research on things like where they were published, how many times they were cited in a positive way in other articles. The quality of your research and positive cites can be a big factor in gaining tenure if you are at a research institution like a university. There's no Rivals/ESPN/MaxPreps/247 Sports style top ranking, but you generally know who is in the top tier based off of academic article rankings, grant money gained, and posts at important labs or research centers. It's not obvious to the average person, but if you are in the field you know who the top dogs are.

The problem with Beasley is he is an extremely stupid person. “I may die of COVID, but I’d rather die actually living.” That statement has no basis in reality. Getting the vaccine doesn’t prevent you from doing anything.
This. It reads like it's from a dumb-ass random quote generator.

"Im gonna keep driving drunk at 100mph because I like to cook elderberries in my insta-pot."

It is like every epic shit poster in massage board history came together and reached out to Cole and they were like, "We can answer this perfectly for you." And then they did.

I love this line from Beasley:
If your scared of me then steer clear,
How about no, you’re the dick, we don’t have to steer clear we just need to isolate you, or yeah you can stay home. It’s not other people’s job to figure out who they need to steer clear of.

Jesus christ with this fucking shit.

If people get the vaccine, Covid will disappear, like the measles, polio, tuberculosis, smallpox, whooping cough, and a variety of other diseases that have killed hundreds of millions of people over the years . Why isn't polio a problem for society anymore? How often do you hear people dying of typhoid?

However, some people want their FREEDOM to avoid putting the knife into Covid. So we end up in this place, where the NFL comes up with a pretty solid solution to protect the players and the fans and you're like, "MIND BLOWN, LAWYERS NEED TO BE INVOLVED. THIS WILL NOT STAND."

It is so exhausting having to listen to idiots like Cole Beasley, who was lucky enough to be born with a body that could handle the rigors of football and world class hand eye coordination, which he didn't earn but was given to by the grace of whatever deity you believe in, and he's spouting this ignorant garbage like he graduated as valedictorian from MIT and then spent 15 years in a lab studying medicine.

Idiots are idiots. And it is exhausting and ponderous.
Holy shit, this captures my thoughts wonderfully... Can I steal it with attribution?

The sad thing is Measles and Whooping Cough had substantial outbreaks over the past decades because of this whole anti-vaxx idea.

Problem we have is that vaccines in many ways were too successful so there isn't a ton of "institutional" memory as to how deadly and bad these diseases are in reality. People think of measles as a "childhood" disease, but it can and will kill.

I was vaccinated for it but I got the whooping cough three and a half years ago. Man that sucked. Couldn’t believe it when they told me it was whooping cough. True story.

Who needs institutional memory when you have Facebook?

I picked it up in high school after spending a summer in the late '90s as a camp counselor. I was sick for weeks and went to the doctor three times and none of them could figure it out. On the last visit, one of the other pediatricians in the practice was walking by my exam room, heard me whooping and diagnosed it immediately. He was very familiar with it after getting his training in India, but none of the American doctors had seen an actual case before.

Oh that poor kid. As an adult, it's brutal. I can't imagine getting it as a kid when you really don't understand what's going on.

Makes sense that docs here couldn't diagnose it. I went through three different doctors and by the time they got it right, I was nearing the end of the hundred day period.

My brother in law got whooping cough a few years ago. He said it was brutal.

It's awesome when people refuse to get vaccines. It's better for everyone.

This year will be fun. Last season, it was difficult to blame anyone unless you had something like IG pics of them at a strip club. This season, nearly every occurrence will be preventable.
I don’t think that’s true at all. My SIL is a PT. Fully vaxxed. Wears a mask everywhere. Got Covid 19 anyway.

This is happening to not just a few people.

Not sure which thread for this, but LA Times has an interesting story on how the NFL handled COVID last year
https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2021-09-07/nfl-covid-19-season-commissioner-roger-goodell

Mostly posting for this tidbit on why Goodell refused to postpone that game where DEN had no QBs:

John Elway, Denver’s president of football operations, made several frustrated pleas to Goodell to postpone the Sunday game until Tuesday, when the quarterbacks would be available. The league denied those requests because surveillance video from Denver’s facility showed the quarterbacks had tried to fool the system. They had removed their contact-tracing devices and put them in the four corners of the meeting room, then they sat together to watch film. That close contact automatically made them ineligible to play.

A bit of an outbreak in the Saints building.
From Tom Pelissero:

All five assistant coaches who tested positive for COVID-19 are vaccinated, per source. The team is in enhanced mitigation protocols, which means daily testing, mandatory masks, etc., for all players and staff, regardless of vaccination status.

Update: Six coaches and a nutritionist are now confirmed positive -- they're all vaccinated -- plus one player, who's on injured reserve. There were just nine players leaguewide on the Reserve/COVID-19 list entering today.
