Do we have any idea why the Pats were fined a couple of weeks ago? The NFL had come out with a statement (before they fined the Pats) that NE had followed all the protocols. So why the fine? I haven't seen any reason given, though obviously I could have missed it.

It's more probable than not that they were generally aware of COVID-19.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

I believe it was posted that people were not wearing their masks properly and that was deemed as bad of an offense as what the Titans had done with illegal gatherings and practices...

Is this why BB wore his mask during the entire episode of B-Breakdowns? Thought it was very funny.

Based on IG pics, it looks like Haskins partied massless with strippers after yesterday’s loss. That should probably put the nail in his coffin.

Good week to have TB12 and Co. in fantasy, yikes.

How many coaches would a team have to lose in a week for a game to be postponed or canceled?
Better question: What happens to the coaches if the Lions have their best week of the season? You know the Boston Pops would be fine without a conductor for 80% of their pieces

They’re all interim coaches so they’re getting canned in a couple weeks anyways but that would be funny to see the team play wel. I do think that an inanimate carbon rod would be a better game day coach than Matt Patricia.

Ravens fined $250k for their Covid outbreak.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30605369/source-baltimore-ravens-fined-250k-covid-19-outbreak
So...NE had a minor Covid outbreak, a few players getting it, and in general were told by the NFL they did things right. And they got fined $350k. Baltimore had like two dozen guys get it, and they had to have a game postponed twice, and they were only fined $250k?

From the article:

"Last month, the Ravens dealt with one of the biggest outbreaks in professional sports. Baltimore had at least one player test positive for 10 straight days and had two of its games rescheduled multiple times as a result.

The Ravens placed a total of 23 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list from Nov. 23 to Dec. 2, including reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, who tested positive for the coronavirus on Thanksgiving. The team was informed by the NFL that "at least four unique strains" of COVID-19 were found inside its facility during the outbreak.

This led the Ravens' game against the Steelers to be postponed three times and their game against the Cowboys to be postponed twice."

Again, this is all WAY worse than what happened with the Patriots...but they were fined a lower amount? Can anyone explain this?

NFL has adopted the NHL wheel of justice.

Though I wouldn’t put it past the NFL to supress a positive test(s) so they DONT have to PPD a game.

Of course those suppressed positive tests will leak and the NFL will get the roasting it deserves.

The mucky muck
The Rams are in a world of shit for their must-win game against the Cardinals with Goff and Henderson out due to injuries and now Cooper Kupp out because of COVID. They're really going to regret that Jets loss when they miss the playoffs.

They can still get in if the Bears lose (and they play a GB team that needs the win for the #1 seed, so it's likely).

Hey, but they beat the pats and we're dancing on the sidelines like they won the Superbowl the game before so that should count for something.

It will really test the NFL's stance on the whole no rescheduling playoff games thing, if Mahomes or Rodgers gets Covid.

Kamara was spotted partying in a club the day after Christmas. Covid is out there, the playoffs are going to be extremely insane. Some teams are going to get really hosed because completely avoiding Covid right now is impossible.

Well it's much more possible if you don't, you know, go out partying in a club.

This shows how much of a joke the NFL policies are etc.

Somehow all the Saint's RB's are out but none of the Dolphin's QB's are out after Fitzy tested positive? There is no way they were not in close contact with him in the days before he tested positive.
I think I read Tua was masked.

Doesn't seem far fetched to me. I'd expect teams learned from Denver and keep that group apart as much as possible.

It shouldn't be very difficult to make sure they aren't close contacts and something every team should be aware and careful about.

That's SO bad for Cleveland. Detroit is bad but without coaches the day after Xmas, they played one of the worst games in the NFL in the last few years.

18 years later, Cleveland makes the playoffs and then loses their coach, and others, to Covid. What a bad break.

This will finally answer the question: Is having Mike Tomlin a better option than having no coach at all?

I've mentioned this before as I really, really don't like the Steelers but Tomlin has coached for 14 years and won 65% of his games while winning a Super Bowl and appearing in another. Yes, he's had a very good QB/GM/owner but even St. Bill Cowher had back-to-back losing seasons and three in total (Tomlin has zero) and missed the playoffs three straight years (which Tomlin has never done). I'm pretty sure we have sufficient evidence that the guy is a very good coach.
