306, row 14
Philly is still in the WC conversation. They're tied with Detroit and Columbus, but hold the ROW tiebreaker and they have a game in hand on each.

2 years in a row with no playoffs and somehow this JACKASS Lead DeBlower keeps his job. Lou must be dead or in a home for Alzheimer's patients.
I'm also not a big fan of DeBoer.  Seems like the epitome of "average." However, these past two seasons are all on Lou. You didn't need to be a brain surgeon to look at this team in the pre-season and wonder where the hell the scoring was going to come from and predict another non-playoff year.  DeBoer did all he could do by having the defensemen try to play a bigger role in the offense but this team has the least offensively talented set of forwards in the league. Jagr saved them from the cellar.

On top of the lack of offensive talent, Marty Brodeur's presence on the team was a killer.  Lou put DeBoer in a tough position by not trading Marty in the offseason.  He had to play the "we have two #1 goalies" card when everyone could clearly see that Schneider, at this point, is the better goalie and that was obvious in the pre-season. So, Marty got way too many starts and Schneider had to sit way too much between starts, which had an effect on his sharpness at times.  If Schneider had gotten 60 starts, instead of 40, and Kincaid was the back-up then the Devils, despite the lack of scoring, would have made the post-season. And, this situation is on Lou as well.

The Devils have to force Lou and his entire scouting staff (who have been with him for decades now) to retire and start over. They need fresh blood at the top and a whole new approach to player evaluation and development.  The entire league has passed them by.

If I were the Penguins I would be planning to tank the game against Philadelphia on Saturday as much as possible.

I can't imagine why the Pens would play any of their key guys in that game. I'm not sure what Malkin's timetable is at this point, but besides him I can't see them risking somebody getting hurt or suspended in the event the game turns silly. Rinaldo being suspended calms things a bit, but Downie's back.

Looking more and more like the Bruins are going to be playing the Red Wings. Columbus and Detroit are tied in points with each having 1 game left. Detroit plays St Louis and Columbus plays Florida, and Columbus holds the tiebreaker if they both were to win.

Great. When was the last time an orginal sixer played the other five original sixers within four playoff seasons?
