California. Duh.
What an unreal run. 5 straight elimination matches, and they win gold. What a redemption story for Shuster.

It was brought up in the telecast but worth mentioning again. After his two disastrous olympics, the US curling association started up a high performance program to improve US curling. Invited 10 men to partake in it.

Shuster wasn’t one of them. He decided to get in shape. He went and found 3 other guys that also weren’t part of the program, and he played his way all the way back to the Gold Medal.

Amazing redemption story.

Just finished watching. Fucking incredible. I can't believe the last week just happened. That eighth end was insane.

It was already an incredible story, but then he went and continued to suck for the first six games and put their backs against the wall. He literally pushed his narrative all the way to the brink of tragedy, as far as it could go, and then spun it all the way back around into the ultimate redemption story.

Looks like half of SoSH was up at 4 AM watching curling. Awesome, wish I could do it. Damned kids.

Just watched. That was awesome - and I know very little about curling.

It looks like a great sport to do with buddies - wish there was a ice sheet here dedicated to it instead of all the kid hockey leagues and free skates. Would love to try it out.

Where are you located? There are a few in Boston and surrounding areas. One in Wayland I drive by all the time.

I wonder when the Disney movie will come out. The whole story is amazing.

Time to turn on nbcsn.

Best part of that 5 spot was the look on Shuster's face afterwards. Probably hard to put into words how surreal that moment was.

The celebration videos at all the curling clubs are awesome.

What a story.

Trying to figure out which Bellhorn homerun that 5 spot was most similar to. I think the answer is all of them.

I will be shocked if they don't make a movie out of this - the whole redemption story is almost too cliche'd to be believed, complete with the powers that be not inviting Shuster to their special program and him recruiting 'The Rejects' and beating their superteam to earn the Olympic bid.

Totally random interjection... My wife and I were falling asleep on the couch at some point yesterday when the Japanese and Korean women came on. The sound of those two teams in this event was the worst thing I’ve ever heard come out of a speaker.

I can't believe what I just saw. Incredible. What a 5 spot.

Is the Bay/Shumacher team still working together to tell that story.

Years ago, @ToxicSmed and I used to play with the idea of how certain soundtracks made everything better. We eventually found one that was amazing for even things like cleaning, but especially cooking because of the way you have different tasks that you switch back and forth to.

I eventually discovered—and it was confirmed by many—that the way the camera work worked, the way the pace kept shifting and stuff from the various POVs, that watching curing is absolutely amazing.

If you play the right music.

(My own playlist leaves out the slow songs because I feel the rest works much better, but dramatic pause moments can be fun too. Like, not the song at the church where they find the JFK tapes, but the opening is solid.)

Edit: I’m serious: This really works. Try it if you don’t believe me. See how much you get done.
