There's at least a world where Ant and Wemby are perennial MVP level players and SGA is 'merely' a Clyde Drexler
Like the comp of Clyde the glide for SGA

I'd been thinking he was like a quicker version of the career Brandon Roy might have had if he wasn't injured (one of the big "what ifs" of the aughts)

Williams lives up to the occasion: end-of-period graceful heave from mid-court.

So on the one hand Luka got obviously fouled and Tony Brothers compounds the miss by giving him a tech.......
on the other hand if Luka got techs for the same things other do (notably Tatum) he'd probably average 15 MPG, so..... we'll call if fair.

If OKC loses this DAignault is going to be seeing that 50 second 4 shot possession up 10 that turned into no points and then a 20 second 4-0 run for DAL in his sleep

Does SGA fall on every FGA like Luka or have I just caught a couple bad possessions in a row?

OKC electing not to use their wealth of picks to bring in Gafford was appears to have been a massive mistake. This was clear since Game 1 (at the latest).

Simmons was pretty spot on about that, if nothing else. He called that even pre-deadline.

Simmons wanted OKC to get Gafford and Lowe wanted them to get PJ Washington.

Either of those would probably get them to WCF

Doncic has indicated he's wanted like 7 calls challenged so far. He's insufferable.

OKC wants to play 5 out all the time. Gafford would not allow them to do that.
Personnel kind of forces them to do so. Get your best five on the floor, and play a style that suits them.

Watching Giddy run around looking only to pass and terrified to shoot, it's reminiscent of Ben Simmons. Minus the athleticism and defense (even with the willingness to occasionally take wide open 3s), that's not a useful player in a playoff environment.

Doncic plays defense so rarely I can understand why he has no idea what a block vs charge call actually should be

I get the 5 out thing, but Gafford is a real upgrade over Giddey here and that matters. And neither really lets you play 5 out

When was the last time a star player was tossed from a playoff game for repeatedly complaining to the refs? Luka really testing the limits here.

ESPN published fawning articles like two days ago about how he went one whole game without excessive whining.

I've seen people argue that Luka yapping at the refs can get him going (in a good way), but Luka imploded after Dallas lost that challenge, and OKC outscored Dallas 24-6 between that challenge and halftime. Kyrie's perfect elimination record on the line.

I don’t think the Thunder have had a single good offensive possession during this run

That’s not even close - defender is in motion the entire time and there’s no arm push or anything.

Am I missing something?

A defender can be in motion.
Not if there’s contact between a player and the path to the basket. And only if it is vertical space.

That is an awful call.

In college, where the rule turns on who created the contact, that is a close call. In the NBA, that is a no-question, no-doubt block.

At least they fixed it on review

I think the Mavs are the weakest Western Conference team remaining, so from a Boston perspective I want them to win this game and get some rest before the conference finals.

That said, I find them impossible to root for and am pulling for OKC while watching the game.

I was going to post exactly this right now.
