Am I wrong in thinking the schedule is changing so we’ll face AL East opponents less than usual? So at least there is that. Maybe.

I actually considered doing the math on how much tax revenue would be lost (because I'm retired and need stuff to do during the winter). Then I realized that would be heading into crazy person territory. Which I may already inhabit since I even considered it in the first place.Ohtani playing in Canada deprives the USA of significant tax revenue and makes my tax bill higher. Do not approve.
He lives in Newport Beach.Do we even know if Ohtani is in Anaheim though?
I got a call from my realtor that "your dream house in Newport Beach is coming on the market ". Gulp.He lives in Newport Beach.
I know Flea is smallish, but Ohtani is a really big dude.I found out about that on Wednesday from this Hatfield Tweet about what Flea & Shohei would talk about lol

Great news! We get to see a lot more of Ohtani.Ohtani is signing with the Blue Jays according to MLB Traderumors. Having trouble linking from my phone.
I generally agree with this. The Jays are a fun team. And, it's fun to have big ticket signings on unexpected teams. If this happens the Jays are going to be a force. They’re actually likable at this point too - so if the Sox are going to do the “find value in lesser players” approach - it’s nice the Jays are watchable
Are they fun? I don’t know, they have young stars, but they have under performed and kinda boring IMO.I generally agree with this. The Jays are a fun team. And, it's fun to have big ticket signings on unexpected teams.
I mean, it's so much closer to the New Balance headquarters. That has to be part of it.I guess I’m interested in Ohtani’s reasoning behind selecting Toronto.
The LA teams seemed to be the front runners because of both money and closer proximity to Japan. If it’s just money, that’s cool, but just seemed like an odd fit.
Yeah those were good times if you were a Jays fan, 4,000,000+ in attendance for 3 straight years and the highest payroll in MLB.Almost feels like the heady days of '91-'93 when the Jays were flush with Sky Dome cash and signed some big deals.
To hang out with his favorite celebrity, Drake. D'uhThe guy who likes sitting courtside at Lakers games with celebrities is going to Toronto?
Vlad is only under control a couple more years. If he eats his way out of being able to play the field, they'll let him walk. They'd better pray Vlad continues to stay limber at his weight. Paying Ohtani big $ makes it impossible for anyone else to DH a meaningful number of games.
Will they be though? Their rotation is obviously great, but they also just lost 3 of their top 5 position players and Vlad, Varsho and Kirk all seriously underperformed the expectations they set in 2022.If this happens the Jays are going to be a force. They’re actually likable at this point too - so if the Sox are going to do the “find value in lesser players” approach - it’s nice the Jays are watchable
They seem to be just falling short the last few years. I could see this being enough to put them over. Will they be though? Their rotation is obviously great, but they also just lost 3 of their top 5 position players and Vlad, Varsho and Kirk all seriously underperformed the expectations they set in 2022.
2023 was weird. It was like the renovations at SkyDome broke him. His numbers were awful at home, much better on the road. But it's hard to see a mega-deal in his future. In the past two years since his amazing 2021, Vlad Jr has gone 269/342/462. That's good but a guy with no defensive value has to hit a lot better than that to get a mega-deal.
Agreed. Hope Trout ends up in the division too,It would be cool to have him in the AL East and get to watch him more often.
Among other jurisdictions, New York and Massachusetts are still going to tax him every time he's playing south of the border in their territory..Ohtani playing in Canada deprives the USA of significant tax revenue and makes my tax bill higher. Do not approve.
Even 2022...274/339/480. 273/330/511 at home. Very good numbers. But much closer to Justin Turner than mega-deal.2023 was weird. It was like the renovations at SkyDome broke him. His numbers were awful at home, much better on the road. But it's hard to see a mega-deal in his future.
I wonder though if the pricing is done by hand or if it’s just AI generating dynamic pricing based on views/demand. Clicking on the same OF seat, I got $30 for Oakland, $80 for Yankees, and $115 for Dodgers and Blue Jays.
BingoSo, the Angels have the scoop on where he's going and raised ticket prices before it was announced? give me a break. They are just raising it because of the rumors, not because they know anything.
I saw them play at the Rogers Centre this summer and thought it was a fun team that the fans were really in to. It was a great park to see a game and the place went nuts when Vlad hit a home run (it was right after he won the home run derby). Someone is going to be paying Bo Bichette a lot of money when he becomes a FA in a few years though, so the Blue Jays would have a tough decision to make if they have Ohtani on board too.I generally agree with this. The Jays are a fun team. And, it's fun to have big ticket signings on unexpected teams.
