For non-Al Horford news.

There's a nba internet war going on right now between raptors & lakers fans and Woj. The synopsis is they think he's been paid by the clippers to put out bullshit.

Whatever the case, the growing belief is the Lakers are actually in play for Kawhi. Someone talk me off the ledge.

Anything is possible but I would be very shocked if Leonard essentially did an about face and went to play with LeBron. From what is known about the guy, he doesn't seem like the type of person who wants to put up with the circus around James and the Lakers. I also get the sense he takes his role as the best player on his team very seriously - its hard to see him deferring to others in that regard. If you have anything to worry about, its him signing a long term deal in Toronto imho.

Did an about face and was willing to play three years of his (likely) limited career at waaaay below max rates. I'm just not seeing it.

Assuming Kawhi is only signing for the max, Kawhi joining the Lakers requires AD to turn down his $4m trade kicker AND requires the Lakers to talk the Hawks and Pels into delaying the Pels-Lakers-Hawks trade until the end of the month even though the Pels have every incentive to make life hard for the Lakers to improve the draft picks they got for AD. Otherwise they don't have cap room for him. Seems very, very unlikely.

Kawhi signing somewhere isn't you can whisper into existence. How would the Clippers benefit from Woj claiming Kawhi was only considering them and the Raptors? It's gonna do what...generate 10 days of hype? At the end of the day, Kawhi is still just gonna sign wherever he's gonna sign, so what has been accomplished? This isn't like a stock price, where you can make the price go up by saying good things about the company or something.

Raptors fans are really, really weird about their status. I think part of it is having a media bubble where the entire country only has one team, part of it is a Spurs-fan-like perception that they’re outsiders relative to the more classic franchises like LA and Boston.

A lot of the perception is incorrect, of course, but it’s a real phenomenon that probably has to be felt firsthand to understand.

What’s the Lakers fans’ excuse?

you all realize that the Knicks have loads of cap space? They aren't doing a S&T for Rozier, they'll just make him a big offer sheet and dare us to match, which we won't.

Making max offers to Terry Rozier and Marcus Morris is definitely a likely Knicksian destiny.

That will show us!!

(I realize you are not saying it's a good idea by the Knicks)

It's worse. The reports now are that the Kristaps trade wasn't done because they were sure they'd get KD and Kyrie. It happened because the franchise had alienated him so much that he was threatening to eat any fines and go play in Spain.

My latest read on the free agency landscape and how the two mystery men at the top - Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant - will set the tone for it all. A new Clippers possibility that could be emerging. Rumblings elsewhere too, at @TheAthletic.
His phrasing in the article is "increasingly possible".

Then some silly season stuff from article:

On the other, in something of a nightmare image for Raptors president Masai Ujiri & Co., he had been spotted the day before buying moving boxes at a local Home Depot.

Free agent Kawhi Leonard is expected to allow the Toronto Raptors to make the final meeting presentation among the teams visiting with him in Los Angeles next week, league sources tell ESPN. The incumbent often prefers to go last in trying to convince a player to stay with team.
