... hosts are surprised there would be any leaks of actual information, knowing how sensitive Kawhi is to having his private discussions leaked.
Considering how quickly details of the visit with Magic got out, I think the privacy issue was a non starter

Per Jabari Young of The Athletic, so far no 2 year deals have been discussed with Kawhi yet. Expects this to go a few days longer.

Your 2019-20 Memphis Grizzlies

C - Jonas Valanciunis, Miles Plumlee
PF - Jaren Jackson, Josh Jackson, Brandon Clarke (R)
SF - Kyle Anderson, Jae Crowder, CJ Miles, Solomon Hill
SG - Andre Iguodala, Grayson Allen, Marko Guduric
PG - Ja Morant (R), De'Anthony Melton (Delon Wright (RFA) expected to re-sign for the full mid-level exception)

(Assumes non-guaranteed contracts of Avery Bradley, Ivan Rabb, Bruno Caboclo and Dillon Brooks are not picked up)
Iggy and Crowder will be flipped or bought out. Probably won’t get the pick in 2020 because they will be top 5 very likely. So 2021 this pick has epic potential. Most valuable pick asset in NBA I’d think.

People vastly underestimate regression to the mean. Two years out they could be close to 500. And they have one young guy who is already good in Jackson and another potentially decent player in Morant. That alone makes them sucking in 2021 seem unlikely to me.

Josh Jackson is not even close to a good NBA basketball player.

Korver shot 48.5% and 43.6% the last two years he had a role in a LeBron offense. I mean if that's toast get me some butter with it!!!
True, although he’ll be 1.5 years removed from his most recent LeBron season, and at his age each additional year generally brings a steep decline. They’re are no 40 year olds running around screens on the perimeter, so for a 38 year-old you’re pretty much just wondering if this will be his last useful year, or if that was last year.

Morant will be a very good player in 3-4 years. Right now he’s going to struggle due to his lack of bulk and the inconsistency of his shot. I think the Grizzlies could be a very good team in the middle of the decade if they land another top three pick next year. Then again, a lot of next year’s best prospects are also point guards, so the Grizz have some very real struggles ahead.

Have you looked at his recent numbers and actual play of late? There is a reason Utah essentially got him for a bag of balls and some Groupon codes.

As I noted, he can still shoot lights out when open but there has been a noticeable decline in his ability to generate his typical separation (the data shows this) and he is a clear liability on defense which renders him all but unplayable in crunch time.

Father time eventually wins, even against knock down outside shooters...

Chicago, the fourth worst record with 22 wins, got the 7th pick this draft. Even if the Griz are horrible this season, there's a good chance the pick will convey in the next draft.

I think everyone posting here pretty much knows the odds. If they finish with the 4th worst record it's like an 80% chance in does not convey. Chicago "beat" the odds. We need them in bottom 5 to feel pretty good about it.

Fox developed in a hurry. They also added vet roleplayers in an attempt to make the draft pick that conveyed as late as it could. Memphis has gone the opposite direction. They’ll be trading their vet roleplayers according to the rumors. They’re looking to add a high pick in the ‘20 draft.

Yeah.. the defense is what I'd be worried about with Korver. How many points can he generate to make up for not being able to guard anyone anymore?

MLSE plane flew from Toronto to SD just landed. Rumor is it was sent to pick up friends/family of Kahwi.
As far as I can tell from reading a few forums, those “rumors” are just fans speculating because Kawhi was not spotted leaving, which doesn’t mean anything. No one knows who is on the flight or what its purpose is. Could be Kawhi going him. Could be unrelated.

You'd think that if he decided against Toronto, they'd make him fly coach back to California

Woj adds:
The Grizzlies are trading CJ Miles to Washington for Dwight Howard, league source tells ESPN. Deal saves Memphis $3.1M. Grizzles will waive or trade Howard, per source.

I haven’t watched much of him lately. Does he have anything left? 5th team in 5 years but still somehow only 33.

It's the Bestern and the Leastern Conferences all over again. Every team in the East got worse, except for Philadelphia and (eventually) Brooklyn.

I think the East is still much stronger than two seasons ago, PHI/MIL/BOS/TOR/IND/BKN is a pretty good top six and I would argue those first four were all in the top six teams this past season (with GS/HOU). I would still like to see opening season rosters but my impression as of now is that of the 16 best teams, maybe 6 are in the East and 10 are in the West, but most of the remaining teams past that will be pretty bad, boosting the win totals of the top half (more than usual is my impression currently), a big split between haves and have nots.

Celtics were 0-12 against the Nuggets, Blazers, Rockets, Jazz, Spurs and Clippers last season.

Celtics made the 2nd Round on the good fortune of being seeded against 1 of the 3 playoff teams they were clearly better than (Pacers, Pistons and Magic). Could have also gotten by Nets and Thunder in a hypothetical 7 game series, but probably goes 7.

On the bright side that Memphis pick is looking better, although the Thunder are clearly headed for Tank Mode and RWB to the Knicks is likely the next shoe to drop.

I think most of the sides to this are bright for the Celtics? East is weaker, Lakers aren't stacked, West teams have to beat each other up?

It would seem Toronto has some capital to spend. I gotta think they either swing big and make a play for Westbrook (if he's available) or sign Jabari Parker.

Indiana got better as did the Nets even without Durant. Miami improved as well. The East is more wide open after the Bucks but people are sleeping on some good work by the Pacers and the Heat.
