I was so excited by the Apple watch commercial at the olympics that I jumped at the chance to buy one (refurbished) at zulily without realizing that it will ONLY work with an iPhone (not with my ipad or my ipod) so now I have a $300 Apple Watch Series 2 Nike version with 38mm sport band that I'd like to rehome. The watch appears to be unused, brand new, and pristine--the only flaw I can find is on the box it came in--there's a scratch on the cardboard. If anyone is interested in taking it off my hands for what I paid for it ($280 plus whatever secure shipping) before I have to deal with putting it up on ebay, please hit me up.

What do you currently use today for a phone? Have you thought of getting an iPhone to go with it?

That does seem like a solid plan.
Shell out $1,000 for a new phone platform you don't use just to make the watch work.

Yes, I'm being snarky
Yeah so, I seriously thought about getting an iPhone for about half a minute, but I love my Pixel and my Google Fi service and the thought of dropping $800+ on an iPhone and having to go to a much more expensive wireless provider was not appealing enough. If I still had a galaxy with the crappy battery and was still a T mobile customer, I'd be typing this message on my brand new iphone right now. But I am not willing to go back after joining the Google Fi revolution.

I have seen that fitbit is coming out with a product that is very Apple Watch friendly, a little smaller for petite lady wrists, and at some point it may be a real contender to the Apple Watch so I will save my pennies for that.

In the meantime I was able to sell my mistake for what I paid for it, to an actual human and NOT an elephant which is good because I wasn't sure how much it would be to ship it to an elephant and this way I only had to ship it back to RI.

Do you have Comcast for Internet already? Xfinity Mobile is dirt cheap if you don't use a ton of data and if you do it's $45 a month.

Who is your wireless carrier? I don’t see the appeal of GoogleFi when there is a lower cost provider like Cricket Wireless available. You can get 4 lines for $100 with unlimited data. If it’s just you, you can be part of a group on Reddit.

I agree that $1000+ for a phone is ridiculous but you can get used ones much cheaper. I recently bought a 7+ for $400 for my father. Yes, it’s a couple years old but still a very capable device.

Glad that OP was able to find someone to sell the watch to without incurring a loss.

Or MintSim if you don't want to have to hook up with random Reddit people. I switched from Fi last year, cut my bill in half, and now can use any phone I want. $15/month for 2gb or $20/month for 5gb.

My average monthly bill on Fi over the past few years is $23-24.

According to this, just the talk & text on Cricket (with no data) for a single plan is $25; with even the smallest data plan it'd be $30 or more. I _think_ with pre-paying you can get that back down to $25, but it's tough to verify that for sure (just googling). Even so, it's still slightly more expensive. Not a lot, but given the worse coverage there's no reason to pay a premium.

I'm definitely not 4 people, so I don't need 4 lines (and even at your pro-rated $25 each if I spent the time and effort to split it up 4 ways, they'd still be more expensive than Fi for me, though at least in the basic ballpark).

I also go up to the boonies in Maine every year a couple of times, which makes it worth paying a little more for Fi (which has the US Cellular towers on plan, along with Sprint/T-Mobile). US Cellular is the boonies carrier of choice, which means Fi is actually better reception than Verizon when you get up into some of those areas. Cricket only has the AT&T towers I believe (correct me if I'm wrong), which is fine in urban areas but limited otherwise.

If you travel abroad much, it's even more of a no-brainer; Fi also has great coverage in the UK, Ireland, and a lot of Europe, Hong Kong, etc because they have the Three towers on-plan.

What you said above is correct. I figure most people can be part of a group because that is where you reap the best savings. I’m also interested in having data because I do music streaming in the car. Anyway, good to know the advantages of Google Fi.

In my case, I have two groups that I manage of family/friends where we each pay $20 for 5GB of data. This is no longer offered and we’re grandfathered. People PayPal me every month without problems.

Good to know of this option. I’ve had good luck forming split arrangements with various people on Reddit and another forum. I think most people are honest.
Have done over 250+ transactions on EBay as a seller and only had 1 issue.

I like Google Fi for the same reason I loved T-Mobile--because traveling in Europe, my phone is a useful thing and not a really expensive mp3 player. But there were some dead spots in my own county in VA (which is pretty dense-in more ways than one but that's a whole other discussion-just 35 miles west of Washington DC) and moving to Google Fi eliminates all the dead spots.
