First on the menu... Clattenburg is set to quit before the next round of fixtures. He's citing frustration with management, but is it really just the rumors of a payday in China?

I don't have any strong feelings on Clatt one way or another. I'm not a huge fan of his style: he preens too much for my tastes. He's generally capable, though, and isn't Mike Deaning himself every other week.

You can't put your hands on a ref (or the ball for that matter), but this embellishment is silly.

The replay ref would see that and card the guy for simulation.

Or the ref just stood there next to the most innocent guy (No.12), then one came from the front and gave him a mini-push and the ref saw the third guy on his right. What would you do in that situation?
a) go back 3 steps
b) stand your ground against (at least) 3 guys 10cm taller and 10+kg heavier than you and wield a red card under the nose of the wildest?

You can say it´s comical, it´s weird, it´s a dramaqueen or you´re just making an elephant out of a mosquito. The guy didn´t throw up his arms, he didn´t fall down, didn´t make a huge thing out of the red card, he just hopped back (which looks comical, but it might be his usual style of moving). And refs move that way.

His ego won't be missed, but his ability to manage a football game will be. The Premier League will be looking a little short of big game officials
