Between Morrison's braindead rotations, his inexplicable benching of Fall (who cares if he was hurt - this is a high stakes game) and the team's well documented chemistry issues with all these guys fighting for playing time and contracts, this was a predictable result. This franchise continues to severely underperform.

I'm just going to, embarrasingly, admit that I almost took this post seriously. Well played!

Our last chance to gamethread the C's until the fall. Had to do it.

In all seriousness, this doesn't completely wash away the toxic residue from the past season but the team's performance as well as several standout individual contributions makes it hard not to want for more. Edwards showed signs of being the kind of player that many of us hoped for, Williams penchant for always being in the right spot makes it easy to be bullish on him, Waters flashed some good ballhandling and decision making skills, TimeLord looks like he has learned a bit and then there was Fall. I am not sure what his role will be in the NBA but he did everything he could to make the Celtics think long and hard about how they might use him.

After what this team put each other and the fans through in '18-19, this was kind of what everyone needed.

Yes. Waters was the revelation for me. Edwards and Williams were as advertised, which is great, but watching Waters run the offense was just fun. I hope he's able to stick. (There seems little doubt that Edwards and Willaims will stick).

Agreed, very fun SL... Edwards can get his shot whenever he wants

Definitely a disappointing finish to a nice "season". Would have liked to see more TimeLord in there in the second half. I'm not saying we should be pulling out all the stops to stay in the "tournament", but I'd also think that winning and having more game reps for these guys would be better than losing and going home. It seemed a little bit too much like the Celtics weren't trying to win out there.

I think the main developments this summer were Edwards and TL, as they played well enough to merit decent playing time with the big club. To me, Edwards was even better than advertised as he showed some defensive intensity and offensive playmaking, neither of which is in his scouting report. Waters and Tacko were great to watch but it's unclear how much they'll ever contribute to the Celts. Hope they do but just sayin'. Grant Williams was exactly as expected and will make the big club but I feel like if he's getting serious minutes this year, something has gone terribly wrong

Edwards has the chance to be a scoring-ier version of VanVleet. Grant Williams is what Sullinger could have been if be took condition seriously and played defense. TimeLord showed enought that I believe he can contribute to an NBA rotation. Waters is an exceptionally skilled little man with a lot of heart. I don't know if he will stick with the Celtics, or even find an NBA roster this season, but I love everything about him except his height.

Tacko Fall was the hit of the 2019 Summer League. Hopefully, the Celtics will retain him and help him go from novelty act to contributor some day.

I only got to watch about 15 minutes of this game, in the first half, but the part I watched featured a lot of forced shots, shots early in the shot clock, lots of dribbling around, not much ball movement, and slow reactions on defense. In other words, it was nothing like the other games I watched, and was very reminiscent of the big Celtics games from this year. Sad!

They must have cut that crap out in the second half to get back into the game, which is good.

Hopefully it will be a good lesson for these guys: share the ball, move the ball, play unselfishly and you win; force shots and play selfishly and you lose.

Was shocked to see Dirty Waters out there, it must have been a very tough day for him to be there.

Everything's falling part for Boston teams since the Bruins game 7
This one hurts my feelings.

Did not get to see the game but SL was fun nonetheless. TL, Edwards, Grant Williams and Tacko Grande were really fun to follow. Looking forward to see who makes it to the varsity club as well as attending a game or two in Portland.

Mostly just sad that the 2019 SL thread is winding down. The summer of love has come to an abrupt end. :(

I think I saw one segment where the question is - which Williams sees more minutes this year, Robert or Grant? While he was far from my favorite player, the Celtics have a lot of BIG minutes to replace with MaMo moving on (in addition to Horford and Baynes). I like what I saw of GW in summer league, but he didn't look that ready to be a part of the rotation this season. We'll see. I hope he can contribute, but I still worry he's just a little bit too short. I'm sure his strength will help.

Edwards will need to learn to understand when to score and when not to. He played well in SL, but he also had a number of Rozier - jack up a 3 with 20 seconds on the clock - moments as well. He's a young kid. I certainly expect he'll learn - although a number of players (Rozer, MaMo) never do.

I agree, but even if he never does, having a guy who is a bit of a “chucker” but can provide instant offense off the bench on a good night is a valuable piece to have, especially on a second-round pick rookie salary.

And Brandon Clarke was #1 who was available when we took Langford. Hope Danny was right.
He was also available at 20. He was the guy I wanted with that draft slot although I think we got good value in the abstract by trading back at that spot and we freed up a pick to dump Baynes, which let us sign Kemba.

FWIW I went to Summer League a few years ago and it was a really awesome experience. Spent probably 6 hours at the arena, and it's just so fun. Players and coaches walking around and mingling with fans. It's definitely worth going if you're ever in Vegas.

Also picked up Edwards while pushing a pick back a year, which has some value. Even if the Bucks are at the top of the league, next year's draft figures to be a bit better, which is a fine price to pay for dumping $5M in salary on short notice.

Huh, another good dunker named Green. He's an NBA-level athlete that has played well overseas, but I'm not sure if he does anything well enough to warrant NBA minutes.

Well, if Green deserves a training camp invite with a little guaranteed dough based on his Summer league performance, so does Onuaku.

The Green "signing" surprised me. He had some nice dunks in SL, but given how deep the Celtics are at wing - I wouldn't really see the need there.
