Tate Matheny was the Redsox 4th round pick in 2015. He projects to have the arm and range to play any outfield position. He struggled out of the gate in Lowell to a tune of .181/.233/218 with a 24.4% k rate and 4.2% bb rate. He would fair better in Greenville in 2016, slashing .277/.324/.382 with a 22.9% K rate and 6.2% bb rate. He also stole 21 bases but got caught 11 times.

He started the first game this year but then missed over a week of action. He returned on 4/14. In his 40 PA this year, he is slashing .429/.500/.629 with 5bb/11k. Much like Austin Rei, he is 23 and a year or two older than you would like for Salem. So far this year, he's played CF exclusively. The last 2 seasons, he played more in RF.

And his hot start is over. Since the last update, he's slashing .164/.230/.209 in 78 PA with 6 walks and 27 strike outs. His overall line has plummeted to .248/.335/.357 in 183 PA. His walk rate this year is 11.5%, so that's good since his career rate before this year was 5.5%. However, his K rate is up to 30.1%, up from his career rate of 23.4%.

Last 33 games: 144 PA .198/.271/.254 on a .321 BAbip. A fringe prospect at best heading into the year, it's mostly safe to completely write him off too.
