I think it would work much better if the B's had a better farm system. I'm worried that the price will still be so high the caliber of talent around Eichel won't meet his skill.

Even if they had the assets, I don’t see how they could have Eichel, Pastrnak, and McAvoy on this team in 3 years and make the cap work. That would be 3 guys making $30 million.

Tampa is basically there so it can work, but we also know how they cheated that last year so maybe it's not possible.

Are we expecting the cap to go up with the new TV deal? Because that would be an amazing core to build around for the next 5-10 years.

Panthers and Barkov agree to an 8 year, 80 million contract extension. He would have been an UFA after this year.

The money will fluctuate year to year and the deal includes over $70 million in signing bonuses, LeBrun adds.

The center is in the final year of a six-year, $35.4 million contract with the Panthers. This season, he will earn a base salary of $7.75 million while carrying a cap hit of $5.9 million. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2022.

Pretty good deal for both sides. Only 26 years old.

And is from / trains in Boston in the off-season. Unless they can get electronic records I doubt they could do anything. No way Eichel cooperates to help Buffalo either.

I could just imagine the league’s response to that email “So if I’m reading this correctly, you think that a player on IR away from your club and in his hometown, going to a local baseball game with some of his college buddies constitutes tampering? Do you really want to open up that can of worms? You may want to reconsider filing anything official.”

What’s there even to gain out of “tampering” anyway? It’s not like he is a free agent in 2 weeks and the Bruins hostd an illegal recruitment visit or something. He is under contract with Buffalo for 5 more years or something. The Bruins and Eichel can’t really change that on their own. If anyone gets in trouble over this, it’d be Eichel because IR or not it’s a bad look and the Sabres front office is probably pissed at him (although both sides appear to not give a shit about the other anymore).

Throughout this mess Eichrl has gone on record saying he’d love to play here. Ultimately though he can’t do anything about that until next July.

What can he do next July? (Genuinely curious as I have no idea)

And I highly doubt Eichel gives a shit what the Sabres Front Office thinks given they are dictating his own personal medical decisions. I get that they have that power through the CBA, but holy shit what a way to burn your franchise star into hating you with white hot rage.

Now that we've entered the season, who are the most likely suitors for Eichel? A few of the teams that were bandied about at the end of last season seem to be pretty safely out of the running at this point - the Rangers, most notably.

So who's left? Columbus? Anaheim? There was some smoke around Calgary last week, no?

It's difficult for me to fathom how badly Buffalo has fucked this whole thing up.

good deal. Expires when he's 31. He's a bit more of a powerplayey less defensey McAvoy with the hardware. Lucky to get him under 10.

that said he shot his way out of two organizations to get to the rangers so it wasn't likely he was a threat to leave. An entitled weasel? Yes. (I don't really believe that but it certainly sounds bad when you type it out.)
