wow. That is quite a gamble. Hischier has been fine, I guess, and they don't have many long term cap liabilities at all but that I don't know if I would give that kid $50mil guaranteed right now.

Apparently Tyler Seguin's house got destroyed in the tornado tonight. https://www.wfaa.com/mobile/article/weather/tyler-seguins-house-destroyed-in-dallas-tornado/287-b7d4f70c-1b12-4c57-9f78-e6f2342d1cd5
Edit: It turns out this was his old house which is for sale and he had already moved out.
Came here to post about this. The photos are quite a sight to see.

Not surprisingly, Seguin lives in a very well-to-do area in town. The area south of LBJ between the tollway and 75 is home to some pretty incredible houses.

Buffalo beat SJ and is 8-1-1. Really impressive job by Ralph Krueger, one of the more interesting people in sports. They’re playing really well, this isn’t the smoke and mirrors of last season.

I hope this encourages teams to make more outside the box coaching hires. Rikard Grönberg is waiting patiently by the phone.

Same shoulder he had repaired In the 2018 off-season and re-injured in the SCF. Ugh.

Silver lining is now they have $7.5m of cap space with him on LTIR.

I'm still not sure how I feel about this contract for Nashville. It's somewhere between "not very good", and "will be 5 years of Brent Seabrook on the back end".

He puts up a ton of even strength points but is generally regarded as bad defensively. A lot of the advanced statistical models aren't very high on him. I think they generally underestimate the value of elite offensive defensemen, although a lot of that is due to underrating their PP value where Josi has historically been good other than last season when the Preds PP was just a complete disaster. It's well within reasonable aging curves that he'll be unplayable towards the end of this deal (he'll be 38 when it ends), but it's basically market value and he's their captain

Could be a tad problematic as a Krug comp.
Yeah I’m having trouble seeing a Krug extension I don’t absolutely hate. His market value is going to be pretty high, I think. Wild ass guess, something like 7x7.5 seems reasonable and also terribly stupid for the Bruins to do

I'm more than OK with a $7m AAV extension for Krug, but term longer than 5 years scares the shit out of me. I would argue that they almost have to treat him like a rental for this year.
