VGK has to make a trade or 2 today. 11 D and 3 G on their NHL roster right now, 10 D that can’t be sent down.

Keith Tkachuk, who was drafted with Jagr in 1990, will get to watch his son play alongside the old man.
Not exactly Gordie Howe playing with his own kids, but pretty mind-blowing.

Although, given Jagr's propensities, he might have a few illegitimate kids that might end up in the NHL with him someday soon.

It's probably what they had to pay, but I really don't like that deal for Buffalo. That's a ton of money tied up in a not yet elite player (imo), who may never be. So much of that deal is pedigree/projection. I feel bad for Eichel, having to live up to the McDavid comparisons and now this contract. He's still a very good player who's set up for a lot of unfair expectations

I like to think of myself as a pretty empathetic guy, but I can say for certainty that I do not feel bad for a guy who just signed an $80m guaranteed contract.

VGK put Calvin Pickard on waivers. Looks like Subban is going to get a chance.

I’d be all oven Pickard if he gets through to the Bruins. Better option than Khudobin.

Interesting situation brewing in Vegas. They signed Vadim Shipachyov over the summer, and he’s their best center, perhaps their best player. He’s currently in the AHL because of Vegas’ roster construction. He’s waiver exempt, so he went down to the AHL while they kept 9 NHL D. I guess they’re afraid to lose Reinhart on waiver or something. Seems Shipachyov is not too happy with the situation and maybe looking to head back to the KHL. I’m not sure it’s possible, but we’ll see how it plays out. In order for him to go back to the KHL he’d have to clear waivers which is unlikely.

VGK has given Vadim Shipachyov’s reps permission to look for a trade. They sent him back down to the AHL a few days ago. 2/$4.5mm AAV on the contract.
