if we can get obj on waivers for practically nothing will he help or hinder our young reciever core?one more year of a show me contract would cost pennies next year would give him an oppurtunity to showcase his value and possibly help our younger guys transition to the nfl .what say you?

if you look back on the season miami had he showed a lot of maturity that obviously hadnt shown before .....never got targeted didnt whine.....when tua got hurt he never complained about the team.basically was a good soldier.and he will basically be free if he decides to come back for another year

He's washed, their season is over and they're better served trying to develop the younger WRs (even if some seem like lost cases).

He's washed and has been coasting off the memory of one catch for years. As bad as our receivers have been I still don't want him.

No. For this reason:

Also, what possible reason would OBJ have to want to come to a moribund Pats team instead of chasing a ring with a team that will be playing in the playoffs and needs WR help?
The OP did say on waivers. Nonetheless, I see no reason for the Pats to claim him.

I didn't want him 6-7 years ago. He's beyond cooked.
Rodney Harrison used to do a radio show on NBC Radio in OBJ's prime. He absolutely hated everything about OBJ's game and thought he was one of the most overrated players in the league. If he didn't have the highlight catch he was just above a JAG. He was extremely athletically talented but was basically lazy, ran awful routes and just relied on his athleticism. OBJ to him was a horrible role model to anyone who wanted to play WR in the NFL.

Hard no. He's a spent shell, and couldn't envision him being a part of their plans past this year if they did take a flier. Keep working the young guys, and address the position in the draft and free agency next spring.

I'm fully onboard that he's cooked and has been for years, but he produced a hell of a lot more than just one catch.

His first three years he average 96 catches, over 1350 yards and 12 TDs.

No, no, and no.
Still not sure? The answer is still no.
In case I wasn’t clear, no, I do not want to see OBJ in a Patriots uniform. He is/was ridiculously overrated aside from his first 3 seasons, as articulated by @Time to Mo Vaughn

Hell No, there's absolutely nothing about him worth taking a flyer on. He's cooked, he's lazy, and he'd be a net negative in the locker room.

NE just released Osborn who at this point is a better version of OBJ.
This thread is silly, OBJ is a name only at this point.

I vote yes, as there's a chance that he somehow makes the offense worse and improves our draft slot. Considering how our rookies have no idea where to be like half the time, that would be an accomplishment. But I think that he's up to the task.
