Scarily NY just traded for him in March 2022, it just seems like an eternity.Josh Donaldson just got released. About two years too late.

Waving the surrender flag is a good image but the Donaldson release seems more like cleaning house, or exterminating a rodent. The Yankees have truly waived the white flag.
Friday is 9/1 when rosters go to 28, so they wouldn’t need to clear spots for him and Wells. They are at 39 on the 40 man so would need a spot there but that would be easy. Some Twitter rumblings of a Jasson promotion on Friday. Maybe if some of these waivers guys get claimed?
Ah, forgot about rosters expanding. He's doing well in very small AAA sample so doesn't hurt to give him a taste of the bigs and then hope it helps him as he prepares for 2024. Don't think anyone would be too surprised if he pulled a Volpe and won the job in ST next year.Friday is 9/1 when rosters go to 28, so they wouldn’t need to clear spots for him and Wells. Especially with the added incentive in the new CBA where you get a 1st round pick and more draft money if your top prospect is up for the full season and wins ROY (Gunnar Henderson about to get BAL yet another top pick).Don't think anyone would be too surprised if he pulled a Volpe and won the job in ST next year.
Yup, I absolutely love that new wrinkle. Orioles with an embarrassment of riches. I’m kind of worried about them going hard after Yamamoto as a sleeper team. High end SP is pretty much all they lack.Especially with the added incentive in the new CBA where you get a 1st round pick and more draft money if your top prospect is up for the full season and wins ROY (Gunnar Henderson about to get BAL yet another top pick).
A scrub pitcher who they got at the deadline because he is controlled for a while, but he got hurt again soon after and was a long shot anyway. They have at least two more AAA pitchers taking up 40 man spots who no one would miss.I don't know who Spencer Howard is, but he was just cut opening up a spot on the roster.
You're probably thinking of Spencer Jones, who is.Spencer Howard was a top prospect for a minute, wasn’t he?
No no, he was a top 30 prospect a few years back. Had him on my dynasty teamYou're probably thinking of Spencer Jones, who is.
Yep, before 2020 and 2021, baseball is hard. This might be one of those moves to just get him off the 40 man but keep him in the organization if possible. No no, he was a top 30 prospect a few years back. Had him on my dynasty team
I don't think you got the credit you deserved for this. The Yankees have truly waived the white flag.
Florial will play a lot of CF and Pereira a lot of LF, they are just trying to keep Pereira under 130 ABs so he maintains rookie status next year.Is Florial likely to cut into Pereira’s playing time? (sorry for the mostly fantasy related question, but it’s the playoffs baby).
Once again NY in their (less than) infinite wisdom have brought a guy up and immediately switched him to a position where he barely played in the minors, like Cabrera in the OF last year. Even though Peraza spent so much of this year in AAA and Volpe clearly was set at SS if at all possible, Peraza played just 5 games at 3B in AAA this season, the first 5 of his minor league career, then was brought up to play there every day. It really seems like malpractice to me.Peraza seems like he’s starting to hit.
I read this post and came to the conclusion that yeah, it's F'd up, but I'm glad it's working out this way. The games don't matter for the rest of this season and a successful test run at 3B would be great for him and the team next year. Being a super flexible IF that can potentially be great defensively at SS, 2B and 3B will help get him in the lineup regularly so we can see how that bat develops.Once again NY in their (less than) infinite wisdom have brought a guy up and immediately switched him to a position where he barely played in the minors, like Cabrera in the OF last year.
