Gio Urshela is 4-9 in the first two AAA games and is evidently on a plane now, hopefully not another injury and Estrada just going back down.

Yep, Didi to the 60 day DL to clear a 40 man spot. Not sure why they didn’t do that two days ago, but glad they did.

I'm guessing Tarpley which buys them an extra day to see how Sanchez is before activating CC on Saturday, but no one on Twitter seems able to consider anything but 'oh noes Sanchez the world is ending'. Yankee Twitter might be worse than overall Twitter, that is not easy.

So the Red Sox get to see a lineup next week missing Stanton, Sanchez, Andujar, Hicks, and Didi. Alrighty.

Honestly playing BAL twice, DET, CWS, Sox while they’re struggling mightily and then KC for four games, with several off days, is about the friendliest window possible to try to stay afloat during injuries.

I'm depressed about the Betances one, what a brutal start to the season.

Don’t hear no crying from Tampa fans. Or up in Seattle. Nobody throws a pity party for the Yankees and Red Sox.

SEA is not sticking around, but TAM and HOU are only going to get better as both have lots of talent coming from the minors still (this year if needed).

“Dellin Betances has a spur causing inflammation in shoulder. Getting a cortisone shot tomorrow and shut down for 3 weeks. At least 6-7 weeks away from big league return according to Brian Cashman.”

Rays window looks like it’s opening a bit ahead of schedule, but they are going to be good for awhile.

From the sounds of it, Bird might be out quite awhile with a tear in his foot. Such promise, such injury. Time to fully give up on expecting production from him.

I'm now convinced that Bird is made out of paper mache.

Another tough break for him and the team. A decent lefty bat would be nice. I hope they can find one somewhere.

I really wish Tampa played in a different division 'cause it would be fun to root for them. Maybe they could swap with the White Sox.

Mike Ford was leading the International League in OPS and he is only 26 (and he is a LHH), so hopefully he gets something of a chance. I think that roster spot gets bumped once Stanton is back anyway, and LeMahieu goes to backup 1B.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing what Ford can do. I hope he makes upcoming roster decisions difficult for management.

NY signs Logan Morrison to a minor league deal, he had 38 HRs with TB in 2017 but was hurt most of last season and had season-ending surgery on his hip.

It's a little strange with them also talking about moving Andujar to 1B/DH and with Stanton supposedly back within a week or so. If Andujar doesn't play 3B (and you all know my opinions on this, healthy or not), that leaves Voit, Stanton, Frazier, and Andujar to cover 1B/DH/LF, and that's not counting Gardner (once Hicks is back), Bird (whose Yankee career is possibly done), and now Morrison.

I think there has to be some table setting for the deadline. We will need a pitcher and one of these pieces will be extra. Bird and Andujar could possibly bring back a very nice piece.

Andujar too has dubious value, an injury that won't fully heal without surgery and a terrible defender even when healthy. You never know with Cashman, though, he is a miracle worker at times.

Cashman is a miracle worker for sure. As a Red Sox fan, me appreciate his acumen & cunning.

That’s exactly what I thought when I read the news. How come there ain't any other teams that think Morrison is good, why do the yankees always get players that could work.

I wouldn't give Cashman any credit for this, it's just because they have so so many injuries. It reminds me of Adam Lind last year, mildly exciting on paper, but didn't get out of AAA in the end for NY or BOS.

It has become cool since 2016 to praise Cashman. He used to be a whipping boy because his boss spent so much money on payroll. What Cashman did at the trade deadline in 2016 was remarkable. But we need not have people praising every minor move he makes.

He has made a ton of great moves since then too, the only possible legit criticism of him since Aug 2016 would be that he rarely rolls the dice on the big moves (Verlander, Corbin, Machado) but I think that is usually the smart way to go these days. He did not do a good job in the years preceding 2016 which is how NY fell so far behind HOU and BOS and CLE talent-wise, but he has managed to close the gap since then.

I was surprised to read in the book about Randy Levine’s clout within the Steinbrenner family and his leverage inside the organization, with YES, the stadium, etc. Cashman certainly controls the baseball end but the conference room is still pretty crowded when the owners and top execs meet.

The really crazy thing is that they showed during today's broadcast that NY leads baseball in production from the 7/8/9 spots, which would make sense if they are healthy but is pretty wild with the lineups they've been sending out.

I'm not complaining here, but damn, this seriously has to be some kind of record.
Yea, I've been hanging my hat on the fact that Judge is in the lineup and now I just shrug. I think the fact that we haven't had any rainouts this April compared to last April has really contributed to the injuries. Playing in the rain and cold consistently like this has to be having some impact.

Man, I'm not a Yankee fan but these injuries are absurd. 13 players on the DL, including 6 all star caliber players. That's dumb.

NY signs Brad Miller to a minor league deal, but they still need an OF, since Miller hasn’t played the OF since 2015. Denard Span seems like an obvious fit, maybe he won’t take a minor league deal but Cashman should sign him anyway.
