It's gonna be nice to add two bats that can hit from the left side with some pop in the lineup.
Really curious how they plan to use Wells. I did read recently that when he has free time in the minors, he sets the pitching machine to mimic the Yankee pitchers and he practices catching them, very cool. It's gonna be nice to add two bats that can hit from the left side with some pop in the lineup.
I am kinda amazed that pitching machines can do that.Really curious how they plan to use Wells. I did read recently that when he has free time in the minors, he sets the pitching machine to mimic the Yankee pitchers and he practices catching them, very cool.
There was a MLB game recently where there was a rain delay late in the game. The next hitter spent the whole delay in the tunnel hitting against the repertoire of the reliever he knew he'd be facing (he had yet to face three batters) and got a big hit when the game resumed (this is from memory, sorry for no specifics).I am kinda amazed that pitching machines can do that.
Wow, that's cool. Do they just like put AJ Minter into a computer and then does the pitching machine throw like AJ Minter? There was a MLB game recently where there was a rain delay late in the game. I just did a quick search, you can do that too if you like. Here is one piece I found quickly, from summer 2022:Wow, that's cool. Do they just like put AJ Minter into a computer and then does the pitching machine throw like AJ Minter?
'I just did a quick search, you can do that too if you like. Here is one piece I found quickly, from summer 2022:
"New York Mets owner Steve Cohen has bought an artificial intelligence-based pitching machine that analyzes MLB ball-tracking data to replicate the delivery and pitches of any pitcher inputted into its system. The machine can be used pre-game but MLB prohibits its use during games, according to The New York Post.
“[The machine] will be the pitcher, so if we draw up Clayton Kershaw we will be facing Kershaw, his windup and everything and his pitches,” Mets hitting coach Eric Chavez told The Post before Thursday’s game against the Dodgers. "

Durbin made the AFL All-Star team, currently slashing .324/.454/.544, 14-16 in SBs in 19 games.NY didn't send any of their top prospects to the Arizona league, although Trystan Vrieling and Beck Way are both promising inexperienced SPs trying to get a few innings in and both have a few scoreless outings.
But Caleb Durbin has made himself worth talking about briefly, he is one of the two players NY got back from ATL for Lucas Luetge in Dec 2022, a 2021 14th round pick by ATL. He plays some SS and 3B, but he is primarily a Jose Altuve sized (5'6") 2B. This was his 23 year old season and he put up a solid .801 OPS in 194 PAs in AA, but his main thing is he is a prolific base stealer, 79 (14 CS) in 691 career professional ABs. He is crushing in Arizona, led off tonight's game with a HR and has a 1.165 OPS when I checked mid-game just now, top 5 in the league, 6 SBs in 12 games.

Where are they ranked on the Top 100?The new BA NYY top 10 prospect list came out today, the top 7 of these guys are all in their top 100. The top 3, along with Judge and Brandon Mayea, are why I’m not worried about NY’s OF past the very short-term:
The Yankees' top 10 prospects per @BaseballAmerica
1) Jasson Dominguez OF
2) Spencer Jones OF
3) Everson Pereira OF
4) Chase Hampton RHP
5) Roderick Arias SS
6) Austin Wells C
7) Drew Thorpe RHP
8) Henry Lalane LHP
9) George Lombard SS
10) WIll Warren RHP
I don't pay for BA access but I think the top 3 are above 70 and the next 4 are from 71-100. They're not redoing the top 100 currently though now, I don't think, maybe after they finish the individual teams (?).Where are they ranked on the Top 100?
I do wonder about some of those sizes. Like I know Delgado's size is listed at what it was when they signed him at 16. Not to say he is 6'3" now, but I seriously doubt he is still 145. He does have some legitimate pop2) We all know Cashman loves collecting gigantic 6'7 and 6'8" players but he has also put together an entire system of Altuve/Pedroia-sized second basemen, Vivas is the 'biggest' at 5'10";
Jorbit Vivas (5'10", 171)
Caleb Durbin (5'6", 185)
Jared Serna (5'6", 168)
Roc Riggio (5'9", 180)
Keiner Delgado (5'7", 145) (145!!!)
And they're all talented, quite possibly all five of them should make a NY top 30 prospect list now. Sweeney is 6'4" (and still a SS for now), so I guess he had to go. Strange!!!
