All of this is just educated guessing and even more this year than most, but I still was amused to see that all three of the NY picks were ranked higher than all four of the BOS picks by Fangraphs:

Ranked/Selected:

40/28 Austin Wells (NYY)
78/129 Beck Way (NYY)
107/99 Trevor Hauser (NYY)
115/89 Blaze Jordan (BOS)
165/17 Nick Yorke (BOS)
183/118 Jeremy Wu-Yeiland (BOS)
202/148 Shane Drohan (BOS)

Gerrit Cole's first kid has a due date sometime this month according to the original announcement, so it looks like he will be able to be there for that and at the most get to 'camp' a bit late.

Oh, and another Cape Cod 2019 participant, same as all three of NY's draft picks.

I guess I will keep this thread going until camp actually starts, fingers crossed and masks on...

Someone pointed out that Gleyber will get 10 games out of 60 against BAL this year, he had 13 HRs in 66 ABs against them last year, a 1.512 OPS.

NY Post: Yankees @ Nationals on Opening Day.
Joel Sherman just had a lengthy tweet thread where he said that since there will be no ticket buyers, at least at the start, MLB will hold off as long as they can announcing the actual schedule, as some places get worse and others better.

Cashman says he expects everyone to be ready for 'Opening Day', even Judge who he is 'very optimistic' about.

Also he says no Yankee players have opted out of the season yet.

Cole, I love you, you’ve got a good head, and it’s awesome to see this kind of support for your new team. But this just isn’t so:

Tony Womack, 285th TJS performed on a professional baseball player all time is the lone exception. Final game with the Cubs was their regular season finale, 9/28/03, surgery was 10/6/03 under Dr. Timothy Kremchek.

No postseason games, unlike his team, but that’s not the criterion Cole gave, so it doesn’t matter. Womack’s first game back was 4/5/04 with St. Louis, their opener.

Verified this by checking every such example in the TJS database I use that also includes minor leaguers and college guys. Womack also has the shortest recovery of all 1,880 players to get back to the same level, MLB, at six months.

Tony Womack sucked so badly in pinstripes in 2005, the Yankees rushed a kid named Cano to the big leagues. Got that from my cranial database, my Venus flytrap of a brain. Don’t even bring up what Womack did in the 9th inning of Game 7, 2001 WS. That is seared into my soul.

Thanks!

Honestly, that line is pure gold. I thought I’d never add to my signature from five years ago, but you just proved me wrong.
